This is a gorgeous period property right on the water’s edge with beautiful estuary views. It’s in the little Devon village of Appledore, with cobbled streets, quirky shops and plenty of atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for beach-loving dogs, with lots of stunning sandy beaches close at hand, and you’ll find fabulous local walks around the estuary. If you want the perfect combination of countryside, seaside and town, this could just be it.

Inside, you’ll find a light, airy Victorian cottage that’s been thoughtfully decorated with lots of quirky touches. The open-plan living/dining space is attractive and comfortable, with a family-sized dining table, a comfortable sofa and a wood burner to keep you all warm after a day out exploring. There is a separate, well-equipped kitchen – you could spend evenings cooking and eating local fish while the dogs’ snooze. There are two bedrooms sleeping four in total, one with amazing sea views. Outside is a little courtyard garden with a dining table, perfect for sunny breakfasts and evenings under the stars.

The cottage is in the centre of Appledore, close to pubs, restaurants and shops. In the summer, there are boats over to the village of Instow on the other side of the estuary, where you’ll find a pretty sandy beach. Northam Burrows Country Park is just a mile away, reachable easily on foot from the house and perfect for seaside country walks. There are lots of amazing walks along the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail, while the wilds of Exmoor are around 20 miles away.

We really enjoy this little cottage. This was the third time we have used it. It has all you need and is ideally located near the estuary, the car park and the Seagate Pub. Lovely cottage. Great location. Antonia very helpfully let us know it was ready a couple of hours earlier than expected. Nice touches like a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival & some biscuits. Lovely and warm when chilly outside in evenings.

The cottage is small, but perfectly formed! The location in Appledore is perfect, great for pubs, restaurants and amazing sunrises across the estuary. Great base for visiting attractions in Devon and beyond. We had some fab days out with the dog at Clovelly, Bude, Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands and Lynton & Lynmouth. Good sized house for 2 people with comfortable beds and very clean. Whilst the infamous stairs were manageable for us, we had "carrying things up and down" challenges! In the warm weather, when the windows are open, noise from the pubs is noticeable if you are not a night owl. Otherwise good location.

The location of the cottage is amazing and so is the cottage and it's decor. We'll be using some of the interior design ideas. Juts a comment but due to it's obvious age, which is why it's amazing it has very steep stairs, so its for the more able bodied.

Pretty little cottage in a wonderful location, one of the best in Appledore. Perfectly well equipped and comfortable; not luxurious but nice. Probably the most comfortable bed weve slept in in rented accommodation. The stairs are very steep and uneven but that is the only drawback, compensated for by the views from the upper windows.
