If you and your dog are yearning for a secluded Snowdownian seaside escape, look no further than this exquisite little cottage, situated by the wide, sandy estuary between Fairbourne (2 miles) and Barmouth (12 miles). Although remote, you’re just 1 mile from Morfa Mawddach railway station, connecting with Barmouth, Harlech (23 miles), Porthmadog (30 miles), Pwllheli (43 miles) and Birmingham. Catch the narrow gauge steam railway from Fairbourne to Barmouth ferry (which operates from April-October), and explore the plethora of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and canine-cordial pubs, like The Royal in Barmouth. Swim, sail, fish, horse ride, cycle, walk and paddleboard around this sublime estuarine idyll.

On approaching the cottage along the footpath, surrounded by wild Snowdonian countryside, you and your furry companion will feel at home instantly. Enter the welcoming interior, gather round the lounge’s inglenook hearth and crackling wood burner, unwind in a steaming bath or sink into soft duvets in the three splendid bedrooms with their seductive estuary vistas; just mind your head and be prepared for steep ascents upstairs! Conjure a cornucopia of local delights in the charming country kitchen, and savour al fresco feasts in the hillside garden, with its gorgeous views of Mawddach Estuary and beyond. It’s a little piece of heaven.

Find glorious dog-friendly beaches at Barmouth, Fairbourne and Harlech (check seasonal restrictions), Llwyngwril (4.5 miles), Carreg Wen (31 miles) and Black Rock Sands (32 miles) near Porthmadog; catch the Ffestiniog railway from Porthmadog for 13.5 miles of unforgettable alpine thrills. Sensitive noses will love sniffing out castles at Castell y Bere (14.5 miles) and Criccieth (35 miles), and the glorious ruins of Cymer Abbey (7 miles). The area and building are amazing but the house desperately needs a good clean and lick of paint. The shower is unusable as the head won't stay in position, the grout in the shower is filthy, the plug is full of black mould and underneath the toilet seat is stained yellow. My sheets also had stains or fading and the place was dusty. It was also Read moreunfortunate that a roofer was working on the house for 2 days as the whole point of the holiday was to have privacy and seclusion. Hugely disappointed.

A gem of a place! We had everything we needed for us, our toddler, baby and dog. We loved the privacy and seclusion of Ty Coch. We also loved the personal touches like the owners folder of recommended walks (which we did a couple of and had a wonderful time). The cottage itself is beautiful. This cottage is lovely, with pleasant views & set peacefully up on the hillside away from traffic. We enjoyed sitting on the garden terraces at the end of days visiting various sites. The pathway up to the cottage is slightly arduous & can be slippy in the wet, so a little care is needed. Thank you to the owners very much.

Beautiful cottage! You need to be fit for Wales and reasonable agility for the cottage. I've had both knees replaced a year ago and I managed fine, but I'm definitely not fit enough for Wales!

This was our fifth visit to T Coch and it never disappoints. Stunning location and the perfect property for those wanting peace and solitude. If you like seclusion, peace and beauty, Ty Coch is the place for you. It also offers unrivalled access to so many walks from the door. Our cocker spaniel had the best time ever chasing his ball around the garden and watching the owls swooping around the garden at night was a treat. An amazing location! But you need to be fit to carry everything from your car to the cottage. It's a tough walk uphill with suitcases, food, and alcohol! Well worth the effort though. Fabulous garden. Fabulous walks from the doorstep.
