Wake to the sound of seagulls and waves lapping against the shore from this pretty coastal cottage in Appledore. You and your canine companion will love exploring the quaint cobbled streets, quayside and dog-friendly shops and pubs of this traditional fishing village. It’s a great option for couples or a small family who wants to discover more of the stunning North Devon coastline with beach trips and walks along the South West Coast Path.

The interior feels homely and traditional thanks to its exposed beams and wooden furniture. Due to the reverse-level layout, you’ll find the bedrooms on the ground floor – a cute double and twin. The sociable open-plan living area stretches across the first floor and boasts invigorating sea views that make you keen to get out and about in the fresh air. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast after taking Rover out for morning walkies or choose a book or DVD from the collection provided to spend a quiet evening in with your loved ones.

In the summer months, take your furry friend on the ferry across the estuary to Instow, which has several dog-friendly pubs that will serve you lunch or a refreshing drink. You’re 3 miles from the popular resort of Westward Ho! and while the main beach here has a seasonal dog ban, there is a stretch of sand at Sandymere where dogs can run free all year round. The walk from the beach to Northam Burrows Country Park is highly recommended, as is the South West Coast Path route towards Buck’s Mills (11 miles).

Incredible stay- thankyou so much for sharing your property with us. It was a home from home, warm and inviting. The children loved the games made available in the lounge. Beautifully decorated and quaint. Couldn't have asked for anything more. We would love to come back again.

The main oven does not work with instructions. The twin room has no functioning window, stinks like a wine cellar., the TV here did not work, the caretaker did not get back to me. The house was freezing, had to climb a ladder to fetch heater from an outbuilding. It was NOT PAT TESTED. There was no spare key for emergency. The cottage was not cleaneRead mored, found an open can of beer in twin room. The cottage was not managed and 'Not as Described'. The twin room, TV, and oven were unfit for purpose. Hide

The cottage is very quaint but very cluttered. Some visitors may find all the books etc interesting but we just found them overwhelmingly too much. It is ideally situated for touring round North Devon. Parking is an issue but as long as you are happy to pay the weekly charge is not a real problem.
