Property code: OC-HOBAR

A fabulous blend of the rustic and contemporary, this barn-conversion property is awash with period features and stylish design details. The grounds extend to 1 acre, offering plenty of space for adults, children, and four-legged guests to relax, play, and enjoy al fresco dining. The area surrounding the property is perfect for enjoying walks with your dogs, whilst the village of Bickleigh, 2 miles away, is a picturesque spot which straddles the River Exe.

It is clear from the moment that you arrive at this property that the owners have spent a great deal of time and care in creating a stylish holiday retreat. Large windows, beamed ceilings, and the original threshing wheel ensure that the whole property is filled with character, as does the cosy wood burner and comfy seating in the lounge. Glass doors lead from the hallway through to the kitchen which has been beautifully finished and offers a breakfast-bar seating area as well as a dining table seating six. The AGA oven is a lovely traditional touch, but don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with them, as this model includes a built-in electric oven. Open-tread wooden stairs lead to the first floor, where all three bedrooms have their own TV and the two super king-size rooms each boast an en-suite shower. The main bathroom, meanwhile, is a gorgeous sanctuary-like room with a sumptuous slipper bath: the ideal way to end a busy day of exploring.

The village of Bickleigh, 2 miles from the property, is a surprisingly well-appointed place, as well as being a pretty, picturesque part of the world. An arched bridge spans the River Exe and is said to be the inspiration behind the song Bridge Over Troubled Water. The village also boasts an 18th-century mill which has been converted to house an eclectic range of shops and a dog-friendly restaurant.

The barn was very clean and spacious. The outside space a bit disappointing as it felt tired and neglected. The area is beautiful with lovely walks / river / sea / beaches in easy reach. Good pubs recommend the Agricultural Inn. Sadly no local shop for necessities.

We had the most wonderful stay. The garden is enclosed and our dog loved having freedom to explore. The kitchen is perfectly set up for cooking with everything you need. The house was immaculately clean, welcoming and comfortable. Highly recommend for stays with children and dogs.

Comfortable house which suited 5 adults and a c.2 yr old for 3 days. Beds very comfy, lounge and kitchen spacious and garden lawn area also a nice size. Bathrooms were a generous size and we enjoyed the local pub with great views and national trust. Tiverton is sweet and a walk / cream tea by the canal is always nice. Would go back.

We had a lovely stay at this quiet and remote holiday cottage in Devon. If you're looking to get away from it all, this is the perfect place. Surrounded by countryside, it was incredibly peaceful a real escape from the hustle and bustle. The garden was a real highlight: large, private, and ideal for relaxing with a book or enjoying a meal outdoorsRead more. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for our stay. The local pub serves excellent food from 8 in the morning. Hide

Great location and such a quiet, peaceful place to unwind. Home Barn had a warm welcoming feel to it and always felt lovely and warm any time of the day. Garden was perfect size for the dog to roam around and he loved the small stream which ran through the bottom area of the garden. All in all would recommend the property and location for a short oRead morer long stay. Hide

The location was great with lots of local walks. The gardens were excellent for the dog. Lovely spacious property and very comfortable bed. It was let down by not being very clean inside.

Lovely property in a quiet location, with nice grounds for our dog to explore. Lots of space for three of us and we loved the comfortable super king beds. A great location for exploring mid and coastal Devon.

A perfectly peaceful location. Comfortable beds and a very spacious and clean space. The kitchen however was not functional if you are used to fitted units and worktop space

Absolutely stunning! We cannot fault this property. The house is well equipped with everything you could need. The grounds are well maintained and we were even visited by some deer.
