  • Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park
  • Within the village of Bwlch, overlooking the Usk Valley
Property code: OC-BN138

This tranquil haven in the hills of the Brecon Beacons is ideal for a couple or young family and two canine companions seeking adventures in the beautiful Welsh countryside. Located in the peaceful village of Bwlch, this cosy two-bedroom period cottage is within half a mile of a shop and a pub that gives dogs a warm reception. Get plenty of fresh air on long walks in the shadow of the spectacular Black Mountains before sizzling up some sausages on the BBQ for an al fresco treat.

Take a step into this traditional cottage hideaway, which skilfully blends period features with contemporary furnishings. The lounge is a cosy place to relax with a DVD while your hounds stretch out in front of the warmth of the electric wood burning - effect fire, attractively set in a stone fireplace. Enjoy hearty suppers in the kitchen/diner – and don’t forget to pack your pups’ favourite biscuity treats. At the end of a tiring but rewarding day, head upstairs to the bedrooms, and wake up to superb views across the Usk Valley towards Sugar Loaf Mountain. Outside, sit out on the patio keeping an eye on your pups as they explore the garden, this is enclosed but with a densely packed hedge to one side.

Stride out on dog walks straight from your front door as you head deeper into the Brecon Beacons National Park. A 5-mile hike will take you to the largest natural lake in South Wales at Llangorse, a spectacular setting for a picnic. Visit the medieval manor house of Tretower Court and Castle (3.5 miles), where dogs on leads are warmly welcomed, and venture into the picturesque town of Crickhowell (6 miles) to see the castle ruins and sniff out a dog-friendly pub for lunch.

Lovely cosy cottage, with everything thing you need. Very clean and in a stunning area. Quite a distance to the nearest shop so would advise doing a pre shop before arrival from essentials. Must have a car.
