Take in the viaduct from a 2-mile circular walk starting at Cynghordy Railway Station (2 miles), or try the longer 7-mile Heart of Wales Line Trail that also starts there.

The large kitchen is ideal for group meals where everyone joins in, while the comfortable sofas in the lounge area beckon you to sink back and gaze out of the large window across the fields, the pups curled up by your feet. Visit the National Trust’s Dolaucothi Gold Mines (16.5 miles), where you can see the remnants of the Romans’ gold-mining methods, but also go on some stunning walks around deeply wooded hillsides overlooking the Cothi Valley. The National Showcaves Centre for Wales (26 miles) is also a must-visit, especially if you have the kids with you, and pups are welcome to join you in all the caves. Take quiet strolls around the ruins of Dinefwr Castle (20 miles) before stopping for a bite at their cafe.
