Property code: OC-BN107

Enjoy lazy dog day afternoons in beautiful surroundings or epic walkies in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. This converted wisteria-clad farmhouse is ideal for outdoor-loving families or groups of friends and two of their canine companions. Set against a backdrop of mountain peaks, lush green hills and wooded valleys, there are miles of scenic trails waiting to be explored on two and four feet. Cosy nights in are made all the more special by a roaring wood burner and 1960s Wurlitzer jukebox.

Wooden beams, exposed stonework and antique furniture showcase the traditional features of the long galleried living area in the eaves of the property, making it feel reassuringly homely. Spend your downtime listening to music and tucking into homecooked suppers prepared in the farmhouse-style kitchen. A small staircase leads to two of the bedrooms, which both have en-suite shower rooms. Another set of stairs leads down to a large hallway, the ideal spot to keep muddy wellies and your dogs’ beds. They can sleep soundly in the knowledge that a human friend will always be close by as there are two further bedrooms on this floor. When the furry ones are wide awake, the kids can play with them safely in the enclosed lawned garden while you sizzle up a family feast on the BBQ.

Give four legs a workout on the many trails around the peaks of Cribyn and Pen y Fan, or go for a more leisurely stroll along the canal towpath at Brecon (4 miles). The town also has some nice dog-friendly eateries, and your beloved hounds can sniff out history at Brecon Cathedral. At Llangorse Lake (11 miles), groups can enjoy outdoor pursuits including rowing, paddleboarding and kayaking, and there’s a lovely dog walk around the lake.

A great space in a lovely location. The barn was perfect for our holiday with extended family plus dogs. Great reception area for boots coats etc, and useful utility room to dry all our wet walking clothes. Four good sized rooms with plenty of bathrooms to go around. The kitchen is really well equipped and the living space is comfy and sociable.
