Up to five of your four-legged friends will be in doggy seventh heaven when they discover the many attractions of this two-bedroom cottage near Llanfihangel-Nant-Bran. Sleeping up to four guests as well as a quintet of happy hounds, this homely retreat is not only surrounded by spectacular dog-walking Welsh countryside but also benefits from a large *enclosed rear grassy garden, where your hounds can enjoy some ball play and stretch their legs. From the cottage, wander down to the river whenever you choose or plan excursions out into the Brecon Beacons National Park, which begins just over 2 miles from home. (*see 'Need to Know' section for further details).
Unload children, pups and all your belongings from the car and then wander into the cottage to explore your new home from home. Let the pups pad about for a spell, while you fire up the wood burner in the large stone fireplace in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Return from exciting trips out together to relax in here together, with a film on TV and your happy but exhausted hounds dozing nearby and dreaming of their day. Prepare delicious dinners in the kitchen area and feed your four-legged friends here too. At the end of each fun-filled day, settle the pups then climb the stairs to two bedrooms: a double and a king-size. The family bathroom, where you can enjoy a bubble bath, is also here. Take your cheerful chums out to run in the rear garden before breakfast. Light the BBQ out here on balmy evenings, where there’s also space to store bikes.
Grab the leads and venture 10.5 miles from the cottage to the Usk Reservoir in the Brecon Beacons. Tire furry feet out with a 5.5-mile loop around the water. Follow waymarked trails with your faithful friends by your side through the scenic Crychan Forest, about 9 miles from your base. For more energetic walks, keen walkers are spoilt for choice when it comes to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Pen-y-Crug, known locally as ‘The Crug’ is an impressive hillfort situated 10 miles away from the property. It provides some good walking routes for all abilities and offers up magnificent views of the Black Mountains and beyond. Pen Y Fan is the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park (14 miles) and is a must for walking enthusiasts. If you want to stay a little closer to sea level, travel to the nearby market town of Brecon (10 miles) for a scenic stroll along the many miles of the Monmouthshire to Brecon Canal.
