This charming cottage, set in the picture-postcard village of Stoke Abbott close to the pretty town of Beaminster, is perfect for a romantic break for a couple and up to two canine companions.

This converted stable block offers quirky and comfortable accommodation. Inside, there is a lovely living space with two cosy armchairs and a wood burner for chillier evenings, where your four-legged friend can stretch out on the rug. Upstairs the romantic, king-size bedroom has lovely views and a second lounge area just next door, where your four-legged friends can sleep close to you should you wish. Outside is a glorious, spacious garden, shared with the property owners, ideal for a game of fetch before sitting down to enjoy a drink on the patio in the sunshine. Guests also have use of their own small private area of the garden next to the cottage with a BBQ, outdoor seating and a cosy shed with sofa (available to use between Easter and the end of October) with a peaceful outlook.

Set in the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are waggy-tailed walks galore to be enjoyed both locally and further afield. Alternatively, jump in the car and head south to the Jurassic coast. Lyme Regis, famous for its beach, fossils and harbour – known as the Cobb – is just 14 miles away. Or for a closer trip to the beach, head to the pretty town of Bridport (6 miles) and the beautiful stretch of sand that is West Bay. Take a picnic and enjoy walkies on the beach (dogs are welcome all year in the East Cliff area) before rounding off the day with a cream tea in one of Bridport’s many cafes.

The cottage is very nice and we share the neighbours garden which one should be made aware of because theres not much space by the tidy shed on the patio The bed in the sitting room doesnt have bedside tables nor does the one upstairs. There is nowhere downstairs in the sitting room to put ones clothes.

I had a lovely break at the cottage and the owners were very welcoming. I was actually house hunting in the area at probably the wettest time of the year but the cottage was very homely and cosy. I would definitely recommend staying there, it must be really beautiful in the summer!

What a lovely place to stay. So comfortable and a real home from home. Close to all the places we wanted to visit within easy driving distance. Owners were around but unobtrusive and very friendly and helpful in suggesting some local dog walks when we asked. Will definately recommend and hope to stay again some day if we ever visit Dorset again.

A lovely, quirky, considerately equipped little cottage: ideal for a couple who fall out easily - a downstairs sitting room, bed and television and an upstairs sitting room, bed and television. Pity there is only one bathroom and kitchen. The cottage is set back from the quiet road in mine host's delightful garden. Overall, it was disappointing, the cottage was not particularly clean and there were several items needing maintenance. Most disappointing of all was not being told before arrival that the decking and summer house were out of bounds (due to the decking being rotten), this was a particular selling point for us as it would have allowed us to keep ourRead more young dogs under control when outside without having to keep them on leads. The property is described as dog-friendly, but the rules make it less so. Hide
