This stunning holiday cottage is situated in the picturesque Rutland village. Offering peace and quiet for holidaymakers keen to relax on their next weekend break, this cottage has been stylishly renovated to offer couples a tranquil experience. It’s the perfect hideaway for wildlife lovers who enjoy spending time outdoors and their pet dog. There are plenty of nearby pathways to choose from for your next expedition with your four-legged friend; one of which will lead you to Rutland Water where you can enjoy an array of activities such as sailing, canoeing and abseiling to name just a few.

This stylish cottage blends the old and the new within its interior to offer a unique finish. Upon entering the open-plan ground floor, you’ll find a combined lounge/kitchen/diner, which is ideal for your dog to participate in the family fun. During the summer months, you’ll be able to open the stable door onto the back garden which features a slate path onto an upper patioed tier. Being enclosed, this garden is perfect for pets to be let loose. Upstairs, is a king-size bedroom with glorious views over the charming Rutland village.

The nearest shop is just 1 mile from the property and the pub is in even closer proximity. Rutland is just 2.6 miles away, so you can either jump in the car or make the journey by foot if desired. If you want to give your dog some well-earned snooze time after all the exploring, take the chance to go and visit some of the many nearby historical attractions, including the likes of Oakham Castle (2.4 miles), Burghley House (16.7 miles) and Rockingham Castle (11.4 miles).

Welcoming cosy cottage in a great location for all Rutland has to offer. Well equipped kitchen & snug sitting area around the log burner. Village pub does excellent food & has a great atmosphere. Lots of lovely walks from the door & plenty to do & see all within a short drive.

Very nice cottage that lived up to all our expectations. Very friendly host, Alex was extremley helpful. We are looking forward to returning again in the future, very lovely area and close to Rutland Water. The Bluer Ball pub literally a miutes walk down the road is superb and very welcoming with great food and generous portions,.

This is a beautiful cottage, ideal for a couple and a pooch. We arrived to a lovely welcome pack (for humans and dogs) and enough logs to keep us warm the first night. I had a lovely two weeks stay at this beautiful cottage. It was spotlessly clean, the kitchen had everything you needed, bed very comfortable, and had a log burner. The garden was an added bonus. Neighbours were friendly and nice village pub. The owners were very helpful and informing me of local dog walks. The welcome basket was an added bonus. We really enjoyed our short stay at Smock and Dog. The cottage is perfect for a couple plus dog. It was very clean and inviting, the welcome pack was very much appreciated, including dog treats. Great location for exploring Rutland. Looking forward to staying again.

A lovely house in a great location . Lots of nice touches and overall very comfortable and clean . My only complaint was its by quite a busy road . Although a village location cars speed through and you can hear this when trying to sleep .
