This stunning, 5-star, barn conversion in North Devon is the perfect place to enjoy a special holiday with friends, family and your four-legged friends. With nine acres of grounds in a rural setting and a fun games barn, the children and animals are well-catered for, leaving the adults to relax and catch up with a glass of wine on the patio. Everyone will benefit from the fresh country air on long walks from your doorstep. Despite its peaceful location, it is conveniently located to access the rugged coastline, sandy beaches, clean surf and local towns.

Sympathetically converted, this property has many traditional features that hark back to its agricultural history, but its cool, contemporary décor makes it feel fresh and modern. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room is vast and offers more than enough space for guests to spread out and make the most of the property; there is no doubt the dogs will grab the spot in front of the wood burner in the lounge. An additional smaller lounge offers peace and quiet. With one bedroom and en-suite shower room downstairs, the other five bedrooms and four bathrooms can be found upstairs. Outside, there is plenty of space to explore, including a private patio and lawned garden.

Westward Ho! (9.5 miles) is a typical seaside town with a range of shops and eateries, but also has a long sandy beach and rolling waves for everyone to enjoy – be sure to check seasonal restrictions on dogs. If you’d rather view the coastline without getting sandy paws, join the South West Coast Path at Peppercombe (5 miles) and discover smaller coves and picturesque spots as you venture north or south. There are many family attractions nearby such as The Big Sheep (6 miles) and The Milky Way (7.5 miles).

Thornewidger Barn is a lovely property. Immaculately maintained and offering everything needed for a large extended family stay. The games room was great and well used. Having four en-suite bedrooms was also a bonus.

I have stayed at Thornewidger Barn, with my family, normally eleven or twelve people, on five occasions, which shows that we really like it there. The property is remote but, provided that you have transport, there are plenty of places to visit within sensible distances. If the weather is poor, the property is large enough to have some space, plus Read morethe games barn is big enough for the pool, darts and table tennis to be used at the same time. The house is well equipped, plenty of cooking/eating utensils etc. We have wanted for nothing. Hide

We booked this property to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. We planned to have a celebratory meal with a lot of cooking involved so were hoping that there would be enough equipment and we were not disappointed. The owners seem to have thought of everything and our weekend was as perfect as we had hoped.
