If you and your family love walking in beautiful surroundings, having fun days out and hanging out in country pubs with your furry friend in tow, this cottage is perfect for you. It has plenty of space inside for three with a spacious kitchen/diner and a separate lounge. And Rover will have a ball outside, with garden areas at the front and back.
Reached via a flight of external steps, the cottage is clean and bright and has some lovely original features, like the stone flooring in the kitchen and the hearth in the lounge. There are some great additions too, like the wine fridge, cosy wood burner-effect electric fire, and bold interior design. The private courtyard at the back is enclosed by stone walls, perfect for your morning coffee and letting the dog out, and the front garden, with wonderful views, is ideal for an evening drink as the sun sinks below the horizon.
Middleton has two good pubs, one right next to the High Peak Trail which does bar snacks and hearty meals for humans and dog biscuits for your canine companion. On a cold day, there’s a real fire for them to curl up in front of too. There are walking and cycling trails throughout the Peaks nearby to Black Rocks, Carsington, Bonsall and the Cromford Canal, all within 6 miles. Give Rover some time out and head to Carsington Water, 5 miles away, to give kayaking or sailing a go, or take him with you for a walk around the reservoir. No trip to the Peak District is complete without visiting Matlock Bath (4 miles), or the ‘Blackpool of the Midlands’ as locals call it, for fish and chips, ice cream, the Heights of Abraham – a cable car ride to see the country park and famous caverns – and the town’s famous autumn illuminations.
