Enjoying an idyllic spot in the Dorset countryside, this beautifully converted farmhouse was once part of a monastic 15th-century grange. Thoughtfully updated and retaining a wealth of original features, this Grade II-listed property is a fabulous holiday getaway for ten guests. This characterful house has been painstakingly restored and features flagstone flooring, exposed stonework, a wood burner, roll-top bath, a shared games room and beamed ceilings. Offering plenty of space for two canine companions, the property is ideal for long walks along the coast.

Entering this beautiful property, a welcoming boot room leads through to a sociable kitchen/diner with a flagstone floor and a large dining table perfect for celebratory meals. The ground floor also has a king-size bedroom and a shower room, with a couple of steps leading down into the inviting lounge with a wood burner set in an original fireplace. From the lounge, a wooden staircase leads up into a spacious timber-beamed mezzanine-style bedroom with three single beds and beanbags, a great space for children. This room leads to two further bedrooms: a triple and a king-size room. The property also has a family bathroom. From the boot room, head outside and across the farmyard where you will find a gated garden with picnic benches and a large lawn with plenty of space for dogs to run about. You will also have access to a shared barn with a tennis table.

You will be welcome to visit the main farm which is less than a mile away. The surrounding area has plenty of dog-friendly walks, with Colmer’s Hill, Lambert’s Castle and Coney’s Castle all within 6.5 miles. The coastal resort of Charmouth is 3 miles away, with a choice pet-welcoming cafes and pubs. There are a couple of dog-friendly beaches within 5 miles.

A fabulous holiday home. Be prepared for winding roads to reach this lovely environment. It was great that the children could play on the games 'shed' and the garden. Overall a great stay.

We loved our stay at the cheese house- much bigger than the photos and a lovely cottage. Lots of room for parking on site. I would note that the 3 single beds arent in a closed off room- just on the landing, so the people sleeping there had no privacy. 20 minute drive into Lyme Regis (taxis not easily available in the area/ a few not happy to come Read moreto the house).
