Surrounded by some of the best landscapes and landmarks, this cottage is perfect for adventurous families and their beloved canine companions. Stock up on groceries and treats in the local village of Talybont-on-Usk before visiting sites such as the Talybont Reservoir (3 miles), then returning home to sprawl out or curl up in front of the roaring wood burner, a welcome creature comfort.

Exuding character, throw open the front door and watch as your pups scamper through to find a cosy spot in front of the wood burner. Once roaring, you will soon warm up and be able to relax on the comfortable sofas whilst your four-legged friend stretches out on the rug at your feet. Whet your appetite with a treat rustled up in the galley-style kitchen before tucking in at the dining table which is surrounded by rustic charm. Should the sunshine and tails need chasing, head outside to the enclosed garden where little ones and pups can chase balls and sniff out new scents to their heart’s content whilst you sip a glass of something cold. The bedrooms sit over the first and second floors, with the second-floor double treated to views over the valley and characterful sloping ceilings.

If you run out of treats or fancy a night off from the kitchen, dog-friendly pubs line the banks of the canal so you can enjoy family meals out on your way home from an adventure. For a gentle but exciting stroll, pop on a lead and head to Blaen y Glyn for a walk passing waterfalls – the ultimate spot to make a splash – and woodland, where you’re bound to find the some of the best sticks around! Slightly further afield, Pen-y-Fan lies 14 miles away but boasts terrific panoramic views from the highest peak in South Wales.

Great cottage for walks just opposite the canal, perfect for watching the narrowboats each day. Garden fully encl for our 2 dogs which was reassuring, and they appreciated the extra touches like dog treats etc! Be mindful the nice neighbours have a very friendly cat if your dog is off lead in the garden. Very well equipped kitchen for self cateringRead more with high quality utensils. There are 2 low beams entering the master b/room (not shown on photos), so for tall people choose the other bedroom! Hide

Lots of space for the two of us and Martha our Airedale. She always uses a crate at night time which is quite large but it was easy to accommodate it in the dining room. We absolutely loved the cottage and the location, our airedale terrier loved the garden and enjoyed chatting to the neighbours who always spoke to her, so friendly. Loved this cottage. It was very cosy and the dogs loved the garden. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are many walks and places to explore. Both of the Pubs serve tasty meals and were very welcoming.
