This characterful cottage is in the charming village of Dalrymple in Southern Scotland. The property welcomes three guests and two furry pals, with the option to accommodate a further guest on a day bed if required. Nearby paw-friendly attractions include Culzean Castle and Country Park and the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum (both attractions allow woofers within the grounds, and are within 12 miles of the cottage).
The mid-terrace cottage has a home-away-from-home vibe, with bright, sumptuous soft furnishings and an array of thoughtful little extras. A step leads up to the welcoming hallway, where you can store all your dog-walking gear. From here, move through to the inviting lounge to stretch out on the plump sofa, with the pups snuggled up in front of the electric fire, to watch TV or read your book. The contemporary kitchen is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering getaway, and opens onto a stunning conservatory-style dining room overlooking the garden. With plenty of space and direct access to outside, this is a good spot to set up the dog beds. Rounding off the ground floor is a refreshing shower room and a handy utility room. Upstairs, you’ll find a delightful double bedroom and a cosy single set under a sloping ceiling. Outside, soak up the sunshine in the courtyard garden, where there’s furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. Parking is on street, subject to availability.
There are some lovely dog walks to explore in and around the village, including along the banks of the River Doon or through the wildlife-rich Community Wetlands. After a long walk, refuel in the friendly village inn. Heading to the coast, you’ll soon reach the seaside town of Ayr (5.5 miles). Here, take a stroll along the paw-friendly beach, enjoying the views towards the Isle of Arran, before dining in one of the many woof-welcoming eateries.
