Enjoy a stay at the heart of old Whitby and venture out of town with your four-legged friend for countryside and coastal walks. This three-bedroom, four-storey cottage sleeps six guests and is ideal for the North York Moors and the Cleveland Way. It is also just 500 meters from dog-friendly Tate Hill Beach.
Lead your pal carefully up the outside steps and into your Yorkshire cottage to find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Give him a generous bowl of water in the kitchen, then put the kettle on for a cup of tea and kick back on the soft sofas. While he curls up on the carpet, choose a book from the shelves or peruse the channels of the Smart TV. Pop damp dog towels from wet walks into the washing machine. Give your canine a last cuddle before bed, then make your way down to one of the double bedrooms, which is on the lower ground floor. A family bathroom is also down here. The other double bedroom is up the cottage-style stairs, with a family shower room. A twin room, where you can gaze out towards famous Whitby Abbey, is on the top floor. Sit out on a bench in the shared yard on summer mornings, keeping your pet close by your side. Stroll 300 metres to Pannett Park, where dogs are welcome in one particular section. Guests will receive a permit for a space 300 metres away.
Take energetic pups on a 7-mile coastal walk to Robin Hood’s Bay. Leap aboard a train on the North York Moors Railway and venture into the dramatic national park to follow exciting footpaths. Try a circuit around Danby Beacon, 13 miles away. This is one of the highest points on the North York Moors National Park and commands superb views.
