This delightful holiday retreat is nestled between the villages of Sedlescombe and Westfield, amongst the beautiful High Weald National Landscape. Sleeping four guests and two waggy-tailed pals, it’s the ideal base for couples and small families looking to explore this historic corner of East Sussex. Nearby paw-friendly attractions include 1066 Battle Abbey and Battlefield, Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, and Bodiam Castle (all within 15 miles).
The redbrick cottage is full of personality, with original features sitting alongside vibrant soft furnishings and quirky accessories. Inside, leave walking boots and dog leads in the hallway, before heading through to the lounge/kitchen/diner. This bright, open-plan space features a high, beamed ceiling, dual-aspect windows, and a gorgeous wooden floor. Spend time here, cooking in the brightly coloured kitchen and sharing mealtimes at the rustic, wooden table. In the evenings, sink into the sumptuous sofa to watch the Smart TV, with the hounds curled up on the rug. When it’s time for bed, choose from a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room or a single bedroom with a trundle bed (can be made up as a twin or a super-king-size on request). A handy WC completes the interior. Outside, sip a sundowner on the patio or head to your private orchard for an al fresco supper, whilst the pups play on the grass. Please note, there is an unfenced pond in the grounds, so children and dogs must be supervised. Private parking is available for two cars.
The historic town of Battle is 5 miles away and has some excellent paw-friendly shops and eateries. For a day at the coast, the seaside resort of Hastings is 7 miles away, and offers fabulous walking opportunities through its 600-acre country park. Further afield, visit the idyllic medieval village of Rye (11 miles), or blow away the cobwebs with a long walk along woof-friendly Camber Sands (16 miles).
