This delightful cottage, situated just outside the Peak District National Park, is the perfect bolthole for couples or small families – including the pups, of course! Sleeping four across two comfortable bedrooms with space for up to two dogs to snooze, it won’t be long before you’re all off exploring this fantastic area. Head to Crich Tramway Village (5 miles) where staff actively encourage your pups to take a tram ride, or go for walkies on the Black Rock and Bolehill circular route that starts just half a mile from your front door.

The property, which lies half a mile from a High Peak Trail joining point, is spacious and airy. The open-plan kitchen diner is fresh and bright with everything you need to cook up a storm during your stay, while exposed beams and an ornamental fireplace surrounding a wood burner-effect electric fire makes for a cosy spot to snuggle up in on a chilly evening. Pups can stretch their legs in the enclosed courtyard while you sit on the bench with an al fresco drink and take in the views. When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the peaceful bedrooms that have calming, neutral decor to help you drift off to sleep.

Head up to the Heights of Abraham (3 miles) by cable car and enjoy all the outside attractions with your four-legged friends – they’ll just have to wait outside the caverns. Cromford (1.5 miles) and Matlock Bath (2.5 miles) are super dog friendly; you’ll find plenty of pubs, cafes and shops to explore. Make sure you visit picturesque Bakewell (13 miles) too. Stroll the gardens at Chatsworth House (12 miles), or take a bracing hike with breathtaking views up the famous Mam Tor (30 miles).

Lovely cosy cottage with an amazing amount of equipment and little touches. Very comfy bed and great powerful shower. Having the mud daddy dog wash was a real bonus so you could wash your dog before going into the cottage. Little touches just for your dog, bowls treats and dog towels if you forget yours. Lovely quant cottage, well laid out and equipped. Felt very comfortable and homely and perfect for us and our dog for our 4 night stay. As the weather turned colder during our stay we fully appreciated the heating which was on a timer together with constant hot water. Quiet and peaceful village and easy access to other areas in the National Park.

Well equipped cottage with a magnificent view from each and every window. It's on route of a beautiful walk into Wirksworth with a conviently placed Coop supermarket, so don't need a car to get your shopping.

This is a lovely cottage in a fabulous location. Clean and simple but with nice touches like the doggie tray and welcome basket. I loved working at the kitchen table overlooking the view or having coffee on the front bench. Wirksworth is easy to walk to with quirky shops and pubs and there were good dog walks and brief drive day trips like Matlock Read moreDale or Cromford. Highly recommended, with friendly hosts with great tips. I would go back tomorrow. Hide
