Dive into coastal adventures in this secluded part of southern Snowdonia, where mountains meet the sea. This lovely cottage is ideal for a couple or small family, including two furry companions, who love outdoor adventures but also like to slow down the pace sometimes too. Wander down to the rocky beach or listen to the soothing sounds of the babbling stream as you sit out in the garden with a coffee while your contented canines enjoy the sun on their fur.

Inside, rustle up delicious meals in the sunny kitchen, using the views over the garden to inspire your culinary creations. Chew over the best bits of your day while savouring a homecooked supper together in the dining room. The lounge is a comfortable spot for cosy nights in watching a film on the Smart TV, with toes and paws outstretched in front of the crackling wood burner. Outside, the safely enclosed garden will be irresistible to your pups. It’s a real suntrap, and perfect for a sizzling BBQ feast. There’s also space to store bikes, paddleboards and canoes. With all that fresh Welsh air in your lungs, you’ll be raring to go for another adventure after a good night’s sleep.

Lead the way on walks along the coastal path towards the seaside village of Fairbourne (3 miles). Chase balls into the sea on the stretches of beach that are open to dogs throughout the year. A miniature steam train runs from here and links to a passenger ferry that you can take to Barmouth Quay with your faithful friends. To experience different sights and smells, visit the wetlands of RSPB Mawddach Valley (4 miles). Canines with plenty of stamina may enjoy a challenging climb up Cadair Idris (14 miles), the highest peak in southern Snowdonia.

First point to note is steps to access back door and the kitchen, stairs are steep and bannister rail is low, its not mobility friendly and this isnt in the cottage description. Cottage is cosy albeit very much in need of some TLC. We had a significant issue with the cleanliness but this was dealt with immediately to our satisfaction. Lots of booksRead more, DVDS & games, plenty of seating. Kitchen/bathroom are rooms and appliances only - youll need to take everything else with you. Good info folder. Hide

Lots to like about this cottage. In a friendly, interesting village. Upstairs bright and airy with two good bedrooms .Hot water plentiful, efficient electric shower. Downstairs roomy with plenty of seating. Would be cosy in cooler weather. The kitchen is basic -difficult oven door, limited storage for guests own food. Garden perfect- secure with niRead morece seating area. Ideal for dogs. Parking not a problem. In short, homely rather than slick. Id be happy to return. Hide

The cottage location was in a fantastic location. It was a lovely village with a shop and pub and close to the beach. The cottage was cosy and the garden was peaceful near the river. The weather was beautiful and we spent a lot of time in the garden, enjoying the sound of the river and watching the birds. Sadly, the oven door was hard to shut and tRead morehere were no oven gloves, the oven also kept tripping the electric. We reported this to the owner and its being addressed by an electrician. Hide

We had a lovely week at By The River, very comfortable and homely cottage in a great area. The village is friendly with pretty lanes, many of which lead to the beach or train station, embellished by some fantastic creations by the local knitting group! Local pebble beach, nearby beautiful sands at Fairbourne, and many coastal and woodland walks. GrRead moreeat for dogs. Local trains and steam trains a highlight. Good access to Eryrl NP and Lleyn peninsular from a quieter and picturesque area. Will return Hide
