Set on the cusp of the Northumberland National Park is charming Rothbury, an excellent destination for keen walkers whether you have four legs or two. Ideal for couples, this pretty retreat is cosy and comforting with boutique-style interiors, and best of all your waggy-tailed companion can come along too. Discover Rothbury’s many eateries and independent shops, letting Fido take the lead and navigating the serene banks of the River Coquet or venturing into the romantic wilderness of the national park itself.

Lovingly converted into an idyllic couple’s bolthole, you’ll be swept away by the ambience of your accommodation from the moment you step inside and dust down Rover’s paws. Climb the stairs and step into the stylish open-plan living space, cracking open the treats to unwind at leisure by the wood burner. There’s a handy kitchen where you’ll cook up a storm, perching at the unique breakfast bar that has been crafted using vintage beer barrels. Uncork a bottle of wine and dine a deux in the quirky sunroom encircled by exposed stone and views of the garden, or take Rover’s lead and embrace al fresco dining while he plays on the lawn. Back downstairs are two bedrooms, one of which is perfect for an accompanying child.

Whether you are tempted by vast expanses of luscious greenery interspersed by rivers and streams or are lured by the thrill of the sea, you’ll be ideally positioned for experiencing both. The Northumberland Coast is accessible within 17 miles, boasting dog-friendly beaches including Alnmouth 17 miles away and beautiful cliff-top trails studded with the odd historic castle such as Warkworth Castle 18 miles away. The Hide was a fantastic property which suited our needs perfectly. Plenty room for 3 of us, 2 adults and one 11 year old. The location in the village is excellent with plenty of good places to eat, drink and buy groceries. The log burner was fab and made the property very cosy on cold evenings. The only thing we would note is that all the accommodation is on one level and is accessed up a full flight of stairs on the first floor. Hide

The Hide was lovely! The location is fab, with plenty of great dog walks nearby (in walking distance and in the car). It's very peaceful and we felt so relaxed after our stay. Amazing little place. Great location manages to be quiet and relaxing but still with amazing pubs restaurants and take aways (definitely recommend little Italy for a takeout). Perfect dog walks on the doorstep and just a short drive to the coast. The addition of the little dog welcome hamper with a few toys, balls and treats was great.

What an absolutely delightful little hideaway in the centre of Rothbury. Tucked away behind the main street it gives easy access to all, parking on street was easy. The house itself is well laid out and beautifully converted and the logburner keeps it tropical.....even during the coldest temperatures ( we stayed when it barely got over 3 deg all weRead moreek!) As a couple with 2 dogs it was ideal with its own secure garden but it will take 3 people. Would we use it again....definitely! Hide
