Property code: OC-88428

Sitting among ancient oaks, the lodge is in a quiet location close to acres of forest waiting to be explored on foot with your canine companion by your side or by bike, with your canine companion trying to keep up! After a day of adventures, there’s a hot tub to soak in and a cosy wood burner-effect electric fire to gather around playing board games or watching TV together as a family.

There’s a big open-plan living area with a lounge, kitchen, and dining area. It’s all rustic and feels connected to the outdoors thanks to all the wood, windows, and patio doors. There are two bedrooms, a king-size room with a four-poster bed and a twin room, and two bathrooms: an en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom. The decking has plenty of space to sit with a coffee or dinner and enjoy the sunshine, and you can relax in the hot tub, day or night.

Take the dog and head to Sherwood Pines, 6 miles away, where there are miles of trails of differing levels so the whole family can enjoy walking or cycling in Robin Hood’s old stomping ground. Head to the iconic Major Oak (9.5 miles away and just 1.5 miles from Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre) – the biggest oak tree in Britain – on the Major Oak Trails, where Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men are reputed to have slept. You can let your furry friend get some exercise too as dogs are allowed off the lead in the forest. Adventure seekers will want to visit the activity centre at Walesby Forest (1 mile) where there are all sorts of activities for kids, including abseiling, bodyboarding, circus skills, frisbee golf, kayaking and swimming.

Had a lovey break here recently. A very nice lodge with all the basic amenities - minus a washing machine. TV thankfully was a SMART one but the regular channel signal was iffy (despite scanning) - wifi was adequate ok for streaming Netflix once it bufferred up. Very very helpful staff on-site who were very prompt and helpful (needed help to tRead moreurn hot tub temp down during heatwave). Decent location - supermarkets within a 3-5 mile radius and plenty of sites to visit within a 15-30 min drive like Rufferd Abbey, Sherwood Forest. Hide

The location is brilliant. Totally away from everything although you'd need to drive anytime you needed to get out as the forests are fenced of with nowhere to walk. The Lodge is like a tardis. Pleasantly roomy inside with lots of space and storage. The underfloor heating was a nice touch too. It's only let down for us was the roads leading into anRead mored around the complex. They were full of huge potholes and were unavoidable. An easy fix with a barrow and a couple of tons of infill Hide

Lovely cabin for a short break and friendly, helpful staff at reception. We were a little disappointed that it was difficult to walk anywhere from the site.

The Lodge was basic but fairly clean. Could do with some repairs. The main issue we had was ground staff had been instructed to strim around the lodge whilst we were in. This petrified my dog. When asked politely if it could wait & I was met with rude abuse & an absolutely awful attitude. The strimmer was going all morning on our first day, waking Read moreus up. The same ground staff decided to also try and cut a hedge behind our lodge which meant we didn't feel like we could use the hot tub. Hide

Decor tired and dull. No bread knife, no bulb or instructions for fire or heating. Dodgy flush on toilet. Advise taking torch as no outdoor lighting on site.
