Boasting tall, vaulted, wooden beamed ceilings and a large, open-plan living space heated with a wood burner, this charming converted barn is an excellent choice for a group of up to six guests and two canine companions who want to spend quality time together. Enjoy the tranquil countryside location of this property while staying in Derbyshire and spend your time exploring the nearby historic landmarks, quaint English towns and the Peak District National Park.

Step inside and find yourself in the bright and spacious open-plan lounge/diner with neutral-toned decor, a wooden beamed ceiling and rustic decor. To one side of the room are two plump sofas surrounding a TV and a crackling wood burner. On the other side of this space is a formal dining table which sits beneath low-hanging contemporary lighting. Around the corner is a farmhouse-style ‘U’-shaped kitchen with wooden surface tops. A downstairs cloakroom offers storage space and a hallway leads to two double bedrooms. Also on this level is a family bathroom. Upstairs, you’ll find a twin room with an en-suite shower room. Outside, is an enclosed garden with a BBQ and furniture.

While staying in the sleepy hamlet of Waldley, you could explore the countryside dog walking trails from your doorstep along the brook and through the fields. Head into the village of Rocester (2.5 miles) for a meal out or stroll along the River Churnet – keep an eye out for Fosser Sculpture. Step back in time at the medieval ruins of Tutbury Castle (10 miles), which is said to be haunted. Lead the way to adventure with a trip to the Peak District National Park and visit Thor’s Cave or walk along the Dolfscote Dale hiking area (both within 18.5 miles).

This barn was so nice, it was the cleanest rental Ive ever been to, the owners were lovely and every little detail was thought about. There were games for every age group and books, all the furniture was lovely and in excellent condition. The dogs loved running in the paddock and the enclosed garden was a bonus too. The converted barn is in a lovely location, surrounded by pasture fields and with walks across open country from the front door. Plenty of room for secure parking at the property and the barn comfortably accommodated six adults for the weekend. The barn decor is in very good condition, well-furnished and equipped, and the 'welcome basket' from hostRead mores Janet and Simon was much appreciated. There is a very good pub 15 minutes walk up a quiet lane which serves great food and you are not far from Alton Towers and the Staffordshire/Derbyshire Dales. The barn was amazing, it was such a lovely space. The kids loved it and enjoyed exploring the peak district which is easy to access from there. The accomodation is beautifully kept, the beds are very comfy and we had everything we needed for the week! The owners are really friendly and there if you need anything but also leave you to enjoy your staRead morey. The kitchen was great and we really appreciated being able to cook with the kids. Wow! Were our first words, what an amazing cottage. The hosts were very welcoming and informative .The welcome pack was one of the best . We've had the best time at Oxwood barn. It was warm, cozy, clean, spacious and perfect for our family with our crazy spaniel. Two double bedrooms and huge bathroom are on ground level with just one small step which was perfect for our 93yr old Granny. A fabulous barn in the lovely Derbyshire countryside with excellent access to the Peak District. An excellent set up with the property owners on site but our own access to the barn, our own car park and use of a fabulous enclosed paddock. Excellent for the dogs to run round. Great access to plenty of shops in Ashbourne, approximately 20 minutes awaRead morey. A few minutes drive to the local pub, The Crown in Marston Montgomery was also very useful. The owners were lovely and very helpful. We had a very nice welcome basket on our arrival. The paddock was great for the dogs. We had a great time. The only downside was that there were a lot of tourists around (surprise!) which made it difficult to visit some of the places we would have liked.

We really enjoyed our stay. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The dogs enjoyed the run of the fenced in field that we had use of throughout our holiday. The barn is well equipped and comfortable. Amenities are only 10 minutes down the road so handy for shopping. Overall a good base to explore the Peak District.

This is truly one of the nicest properties we have stayed in. It was immaculate throughout and everything completed to a really high standard. Just back from another wonderful week at Oxwood Barn with friends and our dog. This is our second stay here and we were welcomed back like old friends. The Barn is fantastic in every way. We all enjoyed the paddock and surrounding 100 acres plus of farmland, which from Feb to May is free of livestock so the dog can walk off lead safely and also enjRead moreoy a dip in the stream.
