Set tails wagging when you step into this cosy, three-bedroom cottage in the delightful Peak District village of Great Longstone. With miles of glorious open countryside from the front door, your furry friends will enjoy a wealth of intriguing new smells to investigate as they explore the hills and dales. Sleeping six guests, along with two canine companions, the spacious, single-storey cottage has two enclosed gardens, front and rear, where pets and children can play safely. Your four-legged chums will receive a warm welcome in Great Longstone’s fine traditional pubs, together with many other local towns and villages.
The single-storey cottage is bright, extremely spacious and comfortably furnished. In the lounge/diner, relax on plush sofas before the cosy wood burner and enjoy views of the front garden as pets take a restorative snooze after energetic walkies. Two steps up lead to the attractive dining room, while the kitchen has ample floor space for dog beds or blankets. Outside are two pretty seating areas in the large front garden. This can be fully enclosed when the driveway gate is shut, which allows space for four cars.
Head for the hills with your faithful hound on a 4-mile walk from Great Longstone, taking you through the village of Little Longstone and up to Monsale Head, with breathtaking views. Walk along the fast-flowing River Wye in charming Ashford-in-the-Water (1.5 miles), admire the village’s medieval Sheepwash Bridge and, in spring, see wonderful floral artworks in the traditional well-dressing celebrations. The Wye also runs through the lovely town of Bakewell (3 miles), famed for its pudding and home to a dog-friendly museum, with an eclectic range of exhibits from textiles to toys. Pets on leads are welcome too, in the gardens and parkland at magnificent Chatworth House (3 miles).
