Tucked away in the Shropshire countryside, this bright and airy hot tub cottage is an excellent base for a group of five plus two beloved four-pawed companions who want a break in nature, with lakes, quaint market towns and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Park nearby. Inside the semi-detached converted barn, you can socialise with your loved ones in the open-plan living space or dine alfresco in the garden.
Step inside and make yourself at home in the neutral-toned open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with three distinct areas for relaxing, dining and cooking. The kitchen has a traditional cottage feel with wooden cabinets, dark surface tops and plenty of space for rustling up a meal for your guests. In one corner of the space is a round dining table with seating for five surrounded by nature-themed art. The lounge is cosy and comfortable with two plump leather sofas and a flickering flame-effect electric fire. Also on the ground floor is a wheelchair-accessible twin bedroom with a TV and an en-suite wet room. Upstairs are two further bedrooms – an en-suite double with a TV and a small single bedroom. Outside, you’ll find an enclosed patio with furniture and a hot tub.
Spend your time away exploring the local dog walking trails through the countryside while staying close to the Wales and England border. Head to the nearby Ellesmere town (5 miles) for a meal out or to stroll along the scenic lakes and nature reserves. Venture into the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Park and sniff out the historic landmarks – such as the 13th-century ruins of Castell Dinas Bran, the medieval bulwark National Trust Chirk Castle, and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (all within 9.5 miles).
