Bursting with beautiful country style, this cottage provides a gorgeous base for avid walkers, including those with tails. Nestled in the heart of the Peak District National Park in the charming village of Great Longstone, head out for walkies with your pup and tread well-trodden trails across the Monsal and Millers Dale (1.5 miles). After adventurous days, take a moment in the cosy lounge and fire up the wood burner.

Step inside where an abundance of charm greets you with a warm welcome. Follow your pup into the lounge where they can sprawl out and lap up the warmth of the wood burner whilst you take a seat on the sofa for a film night with family and friends. Neutral tones complement the dark feature wall, and the country style continues into the kitchen where you’ll find plenty of cupboards in which to hide your dog’s jar of tasty treats. Dine in style beneath exposed beams and once you’ve whetted your appetite, take your four-legged friend out to the rear courtyard (with walkway access for neighbours) for a tail wag and a sundowner. Dish out goodnight strokes before climbing stairs to the first and second floor to the three charming bedrooms and contemporary bathroom.

Your fantastic location opposite the village pub provides you with somewhere delicious to reward the day’s hikes and stick chases. Adventure your way around the Peak District and visit Kinder Scout (17.5 miles) with its tumbling waterfall and panoramic views or take a trip to one of the houses and gardens nearby including Chatsworth House (5 miles) which welcomes your four-pawed pal to explore the garden and park with you. Just 3.5 miles from your door, wander the streets of Bakewell and tuck into the famous pudding.

A beautiful spot to spend a weekend - probably less good for those with mobility problems / small children with open stairs and the bottom and a steepish stair at the top, but for a group of grown ups it's a smashing stylish and grown up place to stay.

Although the details state a courtyard garden it should mention that this is not secure for children or dogs as it has open access to the adjacent road and Main Street. Although this cottage is in a brilliant location it felt a bit tired and overpriced.

The hosts were very helpful and accommodating - responding very promptly and very satisfactorily to a small handful of minor issues.
