The whole family will feel at home on this North York Moors farmstead. Full of child-friendly thoughtfulness and with three versatile bedrooms, it has a gorgeous, enclosed garden – hot tub hire is an option! – and there are fabulous walks from the doorstep. Located on the owners’ working farm within the national park, this elegant family home extends a typically warm Yorkshire welcome.
Contemporary country styling strikes the moment you step into the hallway, where there’s more than enough space for coats, boots and dog blankets. Head into the kitchen/dining room and you’ll understand why this room is at the heart of every country home – there’s space for everyone to share cooking duties and dine, or perhaps just to sit and admire the garden views. After dinner, gather in the lounge to stretch out around the fireplace, expertly crafted from original stone found on the farm. The wood burner will add a warm and comforting glow while you chat or watch movies and the children can play in their own special area, which has a great choice of toys and games to keep them amused. Once your day is done, bid goodnight to your four-pawed buddy and climb the stairs for a choice of three lovely bedrooms. For the ultimate in versatility, the two super-king-size rooms can each be made into a twin on request. One of these rooms has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bathtub positioned perfectly for far-reaching views of the moors. This room can also accommodate a further single bed or travel cot with a full-depth mattress on request. The third bedroom has a king-size bed looking out over the garden and moors beyond, and completing the layout is a family bathroom with a corner bath and a separate large shower. Your living space extends into the enclosed garden, where children can play on the lawn as you enjoy your morning brew or fire up the BBQ. For an added touch of luxury, hot tub hire can be arranged – ask us for details.
Your holiday home is in Westerdale, an enclosed valley that’s surrounded by some of the highest land in the North York Moors. Walkers are spoilt for choice here – the Coast-to-Coast trail passes through the area, and two public footpaths run directly through the farmland on your doorstep. For effortless sightseeing further afield, jump on the train at Castleton Moor (3 miles) and in less than an hour you’ll be in the wonderful coastal town of Whitby.
