  • An ideal base to explore the whole of the Isle of Wight
Property code: OC-85976

Located in the same village as the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, this characterful two-storey cottage enjoys plenty of space both inside and out. It would be ideal for three dogs and their six humans, all of whom crave home comforts but are keen to actively explore the island’s coastline and attractions. This comfortable and colourful cottage has a garden with plenty of space for dogs to play and a wood burner to snooze beside after a day of adventure.

Set within a quiet residential area surrounded by rolling hills, the property has been tastefully decorated, creating a warm, welcoming environment. Entry is via the kitchen, a social space where the day can be planned and where dogs wait expectantly for treats from the cook, with a bathroom just beyond. The dining room is a place to eat and enjoy family games, while the wood burner in the lounge creates a lovely, cosy atmosphere in which to settle and enjoy a glass of wine. Anyone needing time out during the day can recline in the conservatory that looks out into the garden. There are three bedrooms on the first floor: a king-size bedroom along with a double bedroom and twin bedroom that enjoy countryside views. The family bathroom is downstairs. Outside, the rear garden has plenty of room for family games, dog zoomies and al fresco dining.

The party can start its day right on the scenic walking and cycling routes that pass by the cottage. Wroxall village (within 400 metres) has a pub and shop, with Appuldurcombe House (0.5 miles) and the postcard architecture, tea rooms and model village at Godshill (3 miles) all reachable on foot. The Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor (2 miles) has a broad range of attractions, including the dog-friendly Ventnor Botanic Garden.

We had a comfortable & relaxing stay at Wisteria Nook. Set in a quiet location, it was well placed to easily visit many of the attractions on the island. Absolute silence at night was great with very comfy beds. As others have said it is a bit tight to get into the drive but you get used to it. Also be aware that the toilet & bathroom are downstairRead mores past the kitchen which feels like a bit of a trek in the night, although it is lit all the way! *Dogs also not allowed upstairs or on the furniture. Roomy accommodation with a well equipped kitchen. A generous parking area and a well-secured garden for our dog. Unfortunately, the local pub is currently closed for refurbishment with no reopening date scheduled. This does mean that if you want to eat out, then the nearest pub is a car journey away. A great base to explore the Isle of Wight with everything you need to make the cottage a home from home. The house was absolutely clean and very well equipped! The enclosed garden was great for our dog and she enjoyed staying there! As mentioned by other reviewers the access by car is not that difficult even with a bit bigger car, we had to practice it a bit at the first two times but overall it was now problem! What a lovely cottage! Absolutely ideal for our needs. Had to sleep my 95 year old father downstairs in the front room, just because of the steepness of the stairs, but that worked ideal with the toilet situation. Everything was lovely. The welcome package was a lovely surprise. The bread etc. The parking was big enough for our van Everything was amazing and we all wish we'd arranged to stay longer. It's a beautiful house. And allowing dogs in is a massive bonus. Thank you so much for supplying a beautiful house.

The road at the side was difficult to access at the top end we have a large vehicle and scratched the side when first entering the side road The hedge could be trimmed back either side to make this easier. The floors ,stairs and landing had creaky floors which disturbed the children when asleep. An information pack explaining where things were and Read moredos and donts would have been useful. The conservatory was really nice and a good advantage point to watch the children and dog playing in the garden Hide

Great house - comfortable and homely and fully equipped, close to beaches and the local shop is very useful. It is a shame there is only one toilet and it is on the ground floor - but this would not be an issue if you can go through the night without needing a pee! The doggos loved their secure garden
