This charming brick cottage in rural Northumberland offers a welcome retreat from the stresses and strains of daily life. It’s around 4.5 miles from Warkworth, a wonderful coastal town known for its medieval castle (which you can visit with your furry friends on leads). The detached property has space for four guests over two bedrooms, so is ideal for a family trip, with two dogs also allowed to come and join in the fun.

Inside, you’ll immediately be struck by the homely atmosphere, achieved through its rustic decor and high-quality fittings. The open-plan kitchen/dining space is wonderful for relaxing as a family, with its modern appliances and good-sized kitchen island. With its smooth wooden floor, this is also a great place for doggie meals. Hang your pet’s leash and gear and prepare delightful meals in the well-equipped kitchen. In the elegant sitting room, your dog will love curling up in front of the wood burner while their humans watch a film on the Smart TV. Upstairs, the en-suite king-size bedroom and twin room each benefit from views of the garden and fields. The attractive family bathroom completes the upstairs. Outside, the front lawned garden and gravelled patio provide plenty of space for your dog to play. Please note, while the garden is fenced, it is not fully enclosed – so keep an eye on adventurous or mischievous pups.

You’ll have a pub around 3 miles away and plenty more amenities in Warkworth. At the bustling harbour town of Amble (5 miles), which lies a little beyond Warkworth, you can walk your four-legged friend along the pier then let them loose on the gorgeous beach, where dogs are welcome all year round. The Northumberland coastline offers endless dog-pleasing options, such as Druridge Bay Country Park (6.5 miles). Alnmouth Beach (8.5 miles), which also has no dog restrictions, is an excellent spot for flying a kite.

Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and ideally located. I was concerned the micro brewery next door would be intrusive but that isn't the case at all and it provides excellent food and drink.
