With two canine companions welcome at this beautifully converted holiday home, you can be assured there’s been no compromise on quality. A charming, recently renovated retreat that welcomes up to five guests, featuring beautiful art deco and mid-century décor, as well as a delightful enclosed rear garden. Located in the heart of the quaint village of Whitwell, a village that’s famed for housing the islands oldest pub – it is also dog friendly – so all the family can enjoy real ales and hearty meals within the welcoming 15th-century establishment, just a stone’s throw from the property.

Double entrance doors take you into an enclosed porch, which offers the ideal opportunity to wipe off muddy paws and reset after a bracing walk with the dogs. Step into the dining hall and you immediately get a sense of the bright and bold styling that runs throughout this characterful abode. Just off the dining hall lies the first of three bedrooms, a comfortable single. Further along from here is a ground floor shower room with WC and then a staircase which leads to the second bedroom, a double. This attractive bedroom in the eaves also features an internal window overlooking the lounge and large leaded style window on the opposite side, which lets the light flood in. Back downstairs the cosy lounge offers ample seating and an inviting space for the whole family to sit back and enjoy something on the TV. Just off the lounge is the bright and modern kitchen, offering all you need for a well-catered break and beyond this is a second ground floor shower room with WC. A second staircase, situated off the lounge area leads you to the largest of the three bedrooms; with a king size bed and big, traditional window - again in the eaves – its offers a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. Dogs will have a ball in the delightful, enclosed rear garden; with seating area and BBQ it offers the perfect spot to catch morning sun or enjoy a sundowner after a long day of exploring the island.

The Isle of Wight is a very dog-friendly island, with beloved bow-wows welcome at most outdoor attractions. This charming holiday home is situated 2.5 miles from Ventnor, a fantastic coastal resort which boasts beautiful panoramas across its bay and offers a great selection of seafood restaurants. Dog-friendly tea rooms and walkies galore in the pretty villages of Niton (1.5 miles) and Godshill (3 miles) whilst further afield (all within 15 miles), many attractions such as Osborne House, The Needles and Carisbrook Castle all welcome well-behaved dogs within their grounds.

Great location. So easy to get all round the island from the house. Really great welcome pack. House was clean and tidy. Bed linen was really good quality. Great stay on the island.

Great location for exploring the island. Comfortable and quiet location. Would suggest reversing into the driveway as it makes it easier when leaving. Welcome pack was very much appreciated. Doggy bowl and treats also a nice touch.

The schoolhouse overall is charming and reasonably well equipped but it really needs a thorough clean. The bedding was changed promptly when we complained and a lightbulb added to the shower room as requested. The light fitting has four bulbs with only one working in a room with no natural light. The driveway is very narrow to negotiate if you haveRead more a large vehicle. The village itself is a very friendly place. We love the Isle of Wight and all it has to offer. Hide

Delighted as soon as we walked through the door of this beautiful school conversion. Full of character and very comfortable. Slept well every night on soft yet supportive mattress. Everything we needed was there.

Owner was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage had a quirky charm, but we didnt feel it offered good value for money. Cleaning standards could be improveddust in hidden spots, hair in the shower, and a possible leak in the back toilet. Beds were very comfy, but some broken items (chair, shower light, bedside lamp, wobbly toileRead moret seats, temperamental TV) let the property down. Kitchen was well equipped, and the location was great for exploring the island. Hide

Lovely converted (quaint and quirky) Old School House which is ideally situated for long walks with the dog and with the oldest pub on the island pub very close by. Very close to Niton, Ventnor and Godshill and only a bus ride or a short drive away from Newport.

Great location to explore the island. Some of the School House decor is looking a bit shabby and the drive is a tight squeeze for larger vehicles. Watch your heads on the beams.

lovely village and helpful information provided about things to do, places to go. A couple of small 'snagging' issues e.g. loose items. We had a great week in terms of weather but upstairs bedrooms very hot and the beams are quite low for tall people.
