This chocolate-box cottage enjoys a prime position, right in the heart of the market town of Thirsk. The quaint bolthole sleeps two guests and one furry friend, and is the perfect base for couples looking to explore all that North Yorkshire has to offer. The town is nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, meaning you'll have access to an endless network of walking trails to explore with the pup. Enjoy days out to the attractive town of Helmsley (14 miles) and historic sites such as Rievaulx Abbey (11 miles).

The charming, redbrick cottage is bursting with original features, including beautiful arched windows and exposed trusses. Step inside the property and into a delightful, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a vaulted ceiling and tiled floor. In one corner, you'll find a fabulous kitchen area, with everything needed to whip up romantic dinners for two. Dine together at the cute dining table, before snuggling up on the sumptuous sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. On chilly nights, light the wood burner to create a cosy dozing spot for Fido. When it's time for bed, a tranquil king-size bedroom awaits. A refreshing shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, discover an enclosed courtyard, where you and your furry chum can unwind on a summer's evening. Cook delicious, local produce on the BBQ, or sip a sundowner at the bistro set as you plan the next day's adventures. The cottage has one allocated parking space.

Thirsk is a traditional Yorkshire town, full of personality and charm. The town has a great range of independent shops and eateries, and you and your waggy-tailed companion can also peruse the famous open-air markets. As expected, the surrounding countryside is a paradise for walkers and four-pawed explorers. Popular local routes include Sutton Bank and the Kilburn White Horse, or the circular trail that encompasses the atmospheric ruins of Rievaulx Abbey. Spend a relaxing few hours pottering around Helmsley, visiting the castle grounds or wandering through the town's picture-postcard walled garden.

A great little bolt-hole two minutes from Thirsk town centre. Spotlessly clean with everything you could need for a stay. The private courtyard is accessed by going outside and around the corner, not ideal with a dog in minus 2 degree temperatures! But plenty of dog walks minutes away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was very comfortable and central to amenities in in Thirsk especially to the Herriot museum, we had a great time in there. We also took a trip to York and took in the Minster,Jorvik centre and all the shops, we used the Park and Ride which was very convenient. Our trip on the steam train from Pickering was marred by the dampness of the Read moretable, windows and even the seats made the Santa disappointing The British weather spoilt our stay a little, but the scenery was beautiful. A beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated throughout. 2 small things. Only 4 teabags for 2 people for 4 nights, absolutely not enough! As comfortable as the bed always, it is far too big for the room- my shins are sore! Other than that, a great break and a fantastic location.
