This cosy dwelling in Northumberland is the perfect base for exploring the pretty villages and outstanding coastline of this north-eastern corner of England. Go for long walks along sandy beaches, spotting migrating birds or chucking your pet’s frisbee into the distance. This property has space for up to four human guests and two canines, so is just right for a small group of friends or a family trip.

With a reverse-level layout, this house has the bedrooms downstairs and the living area up the top. There’s a large open-plan space that’s perfect for spending quality time together as a family. In the lounge area, sink into the cosy sofas and watch a bit of TV with the dog curled up at your feet. You can open the French windows for an airy feel on finer days. The large outdoor space, complete with sofas and a coffee table as well as a BBQ, is ideal for lapping up the sun – why not have a garden party if you’re celebrating a birthday or anniversary? The dog will love playing with her squeaky ball while you sizzle up a feast and crack open the beers.

The house is in Widdrington, a village around 6 miles from the town of Morpeth where you’ll find pet-welcoming pubs and cafes. Druridge Bay (6 miles) is a beautiful 7-mile stretch of beach which is popular with water sports fans – and allows dogs all year round (woof to that!). Head north to Warkworth (8 miles) to look around the dog-friendly Warkworth Castle. This town is also the southernmost tip of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can take Lottie and Lola for long, satisfying walks along some of Britain’s most legendary routes.

We really enjoyed our stay with our two dogs. As two friends we appreciated the two double bedrooms with en-suites. We enjoyed lots of places to walk the dogs, a short drive to the beach and easy access to many interesting places. As always, Northumberland scores very highly.

We found this cottage disapointing, there was a lot of small maintenance issues that need addressing i.e replacing light bulbs, repair to shower controls etc. It is also advertised with Sky TV but that was non existent. Would be nice to have a greeting from the owners, rather than trying to approach them. Also a general information book in the cottRead moreage is needed. Cleanliness not great, and bedding looked very used, and no mattress protector on one of the beds. Surprising reviews frm prev guests ! Hide

The property is ideally situated to explore the North East coast and historic houses and landmarks. The property is comfortable with great views across the fields, one evening we watched a barn owl searching for food.
