If your pets love the countryside and sea, this beautiful cottage in Northumberland – where the vast majority of the beaches welcome dogs all year round – is sure to tick their boxes. It’s in a peaceful spot, 0.5 miles along a scenic farm track, and surrounded by gorgeous views of the Northumberland coast on one side and the Cheviot Hills on the other; both wonderful prospects for scenic dog walks. The single-storey home has room for six guests over three bedrooms, so is ideal for families or groups of friends.
Step inside the stone-built cottage to find a spacious living area with underfloor heating and a central double-sided wood burner to keep you all toasty in chilly weather. Stylish decor with a cohesive colour scheme and attractive artwork makes you feel right at home. The open-plan design means there’s plenty of room for your pets to roam indoors while you cook, chat, eat and watch TV. The rooms are all spectacular, starting with the master bedroom, a king-size with a country cottage style, which boasts a walk-in closet and an en-suite shower room. The two other bedrooms, a twin with sea views and a king-size family room with a single chair/bed for a child to sleep in, both have en-suite shower rooms and lovely views over the surrounding countryside. You’ll also have a luxurious family bathroom with a stunning copper bath – ideal for a nice long soak after a long walk. At the rear, there's an enclosed courtyard where your dogs can sniff around while you enjoy al fresco dining or stargazing under Northumberland's dark skies. Please be aware that there are three wide stone steps leading to the raised terrace at the front of the cottage.
Your dogs will be in their element with so many great places to explore nearby. Take them to the sandy beach at Low Newton-by-the-Sea (8 miles) for a game of fetch, or try out some of the trails at the Cheviot Hills and Wooler (15 miles) for a good leg stretch. For a bit of culture, Alnwick Castle and Gardens (6 miles) welcome dogs on leads, making it a fun outing for the whole family. Whether it’s coastal adventures or countryside rambles, your dog will love every minute of their stay.
