Boasting panoramic views across open countryside, this period property really is something quite special. The cottage comfortably sleeps six guests and two dogs and, being situated right on the edge of the North York Moors, it’s the perfect bolthole to explore a whole host of intriguing walking trails guaranteed to get tails wagging and ears flapping with excitement. You’ll also be less than 20 miles from the coast, with wild cliff-top paths and long sandy beaches.

The attention to detail in this cottage is superb. The lounge really has the wow factor; it’s a light-flooded space with unspoilt rural views and ample comfy seating for everyone after a fun day of exploring. The underfloor heating adds an extra special touch and the woofers will love curling up on the warm surface on chillier evenings. All the bedrooms are finished to a very high standard and the master bedroom even has a Juliet balcony. Outside, the dogs will love charging around in the large enclosed garden whilst you indulge in a spot of al fresco dining. There’s plenty of storage for boots and dog-walking gear, as well as a handy outdoor washing area.

It’s easy to pick up the Cleveland Way, which winds its way around the perimeter of the North York Moors National Park. Head to the pretty market town of Helmsley, 19 miles away, and follow the trail for 11.5 miles to Sutton Bank. You can make a slight detour to visit the famous White Horse at Kilburn. Cod Beck Reservoir (14 miles away) is peaceful and extremely photogenic. Pack a picnic and enjoy a circular walk with the dogs around the water and through woodlands. For old-fashioned seaside charm, journey north to Staithes (23 miles away). You’ll find cute higgledy-piggledy cottages and a great selection of cliff-top paths.
