The cute cobb cottage is set in a peaceful Dorset village and a network of footpaths weave through the surrounding Tarrant Valley, providing you with endless dog-walking opportunities. The nearby Georgian town of Blandford Forum (4 miles) is full of charm, with fabulous independent eateries and a busy calendar of open-air markets. You’ll also be just 20 miles from the coast, where the woofers can burn off steam on the sand at Bournemouth or Hengistbury Head.

The cosy lounge/diner houses a fabulous inglenook fireplace with a roaring wood burner, as well as the original bread ovens. Unwind in here with a glass of wine at the end of the day, with the pups curled up on the rug. Steps lead from here to a cosy snug with a TV and from the hallway, cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor. The cottage is full of quirky charm, but due to its age, you’ll find low beams and doorways, as well as split levels throughout the property. The mature garden has a large lawn for the hounds to play on, as well as pretty borders to sniff and explore.
Head to the coast to find Bournemouth’s 11-mile stretch of golden sand. Along the beach, there are designated dog zones where your furry pal can run around and paddle their paws in the water. At the eastern end of the beach is Hengistbury Head. The dramatic headland offers panoramic views across Bournemouth Bay and is a fantastic place for wildlife watching. It also has two woof-friendly beaches. Kingston Lacy (7 miles) also makes a great day out. Picnic on the lawns of the elegant mansion, before taking a long walk through the 8,500-acre estate.
