Nestled just a stick’s throw from the footpaths and trails of the Yorkshire Dales in the charming village of Embsay, those with a nose for nature will go mutts for an escape to this charming cottage. Canine companions and keen walkers won’t be able to resist the countless walks from the doorstep.

The rustic yet homely ambience of the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the ultimate antidote for weary walking muscles and tired paws. Hunker down on the comfortable sofa whilst your four-pawed pal curls up on the plush rug at your feet. Leave your pup to snooze as you lead the way into the contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to tame the growl of hungry tummies by rustling up some tasty treats. There’s also a handy breakfast room that’s perfect for gathering the whole pack and catching up on tales of the day’s adventures. Upstairs, you’ll find two double bedrooms, both featuring fetching countryside views, plus a twin bedroom accessed via a steep paddle staircase from one of the double bedrooms (perfect for adventurous children). Outside, dine alfresco on the patio or roast marshmallows over the fire pit in the shared lawned garden that your pup will have a ball exploring.

Popular with walkers looking to explore the Southern Yorkshire Dales, Embsay is a haven for those with a nose for adventure. Head off from the village centre to join the trail to hike across the moors to Hut Crag and Upper Barden Reservoir before passing Cracoe War Memorial and heading south past Rylstone Cross and Embsay Reservoir. Journey through the fetching landscape of the Dales with your pup aboard a steam train at the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, 4 miles away. Sniff out the best local produce from the array of independent cafes and shops from nearby Skipton, 1.5 miles away.

Uncomfortably small, especially with 2 lively dogs. The garden is shared with 3 other units and not secure enough to allow dogs off lead. Strong odour of what we thought to be wood preservative was unbearable.
