Property code: OC-COV

Situated just 1.5 miles from the colourful seaside town of Southwold, this cosy cottage with its private garden is proof that big things come in small packages. Sleeping four, this beach-style property sits at the vantage point of Reydon, a popular spot for dogs doing their best exploring.

Gather the family and the pup and head for a holiday of R&R at this home-from-home cottage. When you first enter, an open fire awaits you - perfect for keeping furry tummies toasty and warming tootsies after a long day at the beach. Curl up with a good book on the welcoming sofas, or hunker down and catch up with your favourite boxset. When it’s time for tea, head to the well-equipped kitchen. Although small, this dual-aspect fun-size space offers everything you need to rustle up family feasts but don’t forget to keep an eye out for wandering paws. Gather your party in the adjoining dining room to catch up on the day’s events or even light the wood burner-effect electric fire and toast to this special getaway. Steep cottage-style stairs usher you to lay your head in one of the inviting bedrooms; one double with a connected en-suite bathroom and one twin room. For those balmy summer nights, entertain the four-legged friends and kids alike with a hearty supper in the garden, followed by ball games and relaxation on the ample outdoor furniture.

Your canine companion will adore sniffing out new and exciting walking routes in the surrounding countryside. Follow the rows and rows of pastel-coloured properties to Southwold’s seafront, where fish and chips can be inhaled by humans and dogs alike. The lighthouse, harbour and clifftop are well worth exploring with your canine companion due to their lengthy paths and stunning views.

Im my opinion not suitable for rental. The stairs and access to the bathroom through the main bedroom is potentially dangerous due to the very steep stairs (58 degrees). Various maintenance issues regarding the property have been discussed with Suffolk Secrets. Not one saucepan matched the one existing lid. The garden was poorly maintained. The matRead moretress and duvet in the main bedroom need replacing due to worn condition. There were some nice touches with appropriate paintings but I would definitely not recommend this property. A quiet, comfortable cottage ideally located not just for the coast but also for days out further afield - places like Sutton Hoo and the Bressingham Steam Museum are only around an hour away by car - and the coast is but 20 minutes away on foot. Our first time in Suffolk, and this is a place we'd choose again.
