Escape with family and friends to this delightful country retreat near the coast and the North York Moors National Park. This charming and traditional stone-built cottage enjoys a quaint Yorkshire village location, just moments from miles of soft sand along the local coastline that your four-pawed pal will go mutts for.
Lead the way into the ultra-cosy living room with an open fire perfect for keeping toes and paws warm, complemented by beautiful ceiling beams, an exposed brick fireplace and lots of comfy seating that sets the rustic tone of the whole cottage. Sniff out the traditional farmhouse-style kitchen to whip up a hearty meal with the local produce you’ve collected as your pup tucks into their dinner beside you. Let sleeping dogs lie in the bedroom on the first floor featuring even more exposed ceiling beams and charming wallpaper. Head up the steep staircase to find the quaint second bedroom with a characterful sloping ceiling and beautiful countryside views over the rooftops. Outside is an enclosed patio garden centred around a mature apple tree that your four-legged friend will love sniffing around as you soak up the last of the day’s sun.
The small village of Hawsker is perfectly nestled just 3 miles from the iconic fishing village of Whitby, boasting miles of golden sand that your pup will love. Join the wonderful trail along the disused Scarborough to Whitby Railway line that passes through Hawsker on two wheels if your four-legged friend can keep up, to join the cinder track to Robin Hoods Bay, set 2.5 miles away. There are panoramic views of the coastline along the journey and you’ll eventually reach a wonderful, sheltered bay for your pup to chase the tide. Lead the way up the 199 Whitby Abbey steps 3 miles away – perfect for exercising little paws that’ll probably beat you to the top!
