Surrounded by Somerset countryside and within easy reach of Tiverton, Wellington and Taunton, this charming two-storey cottage is a great fit for families and friends travelling with a four-legged companion. With a roaring wood burner, rural lanes and footpaths right from the door, it’s a wonderful base for long walks with your faithful hound, while a children’s play park 100 metres away keeps younger guests happy too.

Inside, the cottage blends rustic charm with a calming, homely feel. The porch/boot room is especially handy after muddy outings with your pup. From here, step into the cosy lounge, where deep sofas, the wood burner and a Smart TV invite you to settle in for the evening. The kitchen/dining room is generously equipped for cooking up hearty meals, with an ornamental wood burner adding to the character and a breakfast bar for casual bites. The dining table is a sociable spot to gather and share stories from the day. There’s also a bright sunroom, creating a lovely corner to sit with a coffee while your four-pawed pal snoozes nearby. Upstairs, three inviting bedrooms await – two doubles and a king-size with its own en-suite shower room – along with a family bathroom. Outside, steps lead up to a rear patio with outdoor furniture and countryside views, a great place for al fresco meals or firing up the BBQ while Rover sniffs the enclosed borders. At the front, a lawned garden with a pond and bench provides another peaceful spot to sit with a morning drink. Private parking for two cars is available.

For tail-wagging adventures, head into the rolling scenery of the Blackdown Hills or climb up to Wellington Monument for sweeping vistas. There are plenty of dog-friendly places nearby to fill your days, too; wander the grounds of Hestercombe Gardens (16 miles) or roam Taunton’s Vivary Park (12.5 miles). For a slower pace, explore Dulverton (13.5 miles) on the edge of Exmoor National Park, or visit the grand Knightshayes Court (11.5 miles) with its gardens and woodland trails – great for stretching the legs with your canine sidekick on the lead.

The property was so well equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable with good pillows and bedding. The gardens are lovely, especially the rear patio area. The welcome basket was a nice surprise. The only issue was the distance to any shops or facilities and the local pub was a disappointment!
