Polruan, a charming seaside village, is a 2-mile walk and offers great pubs for enjoying the local seafood or an afternoon cream tea while overlooking the pretty harbour. From here, sea dogs can take the passenger ferry and spend the day in Fowey with its quaint streets, hidden valley and sailing on the estuary. Further afield are the Eden Project (13 miles) and the Lost Gardens of Heligan (21.5 miles), both of which are sure to set tails wagging.
