Tucked in the ancient village of Netherfield just a few miles away from the location of the Battle of Hastings, this delightful cottage is a gem for treasure seekers and canine companions alike. Sleeping six guests and a waggy-tailed companion across three comfortable bedrooms, you could soon be unravelling the secrets of this historic area, refuelling with a well-earned pit stop at one of the charming tearooms, pubs or eateries in the nearby town of Battle 4 miles away.

Step inside to discover a fresh and contemporary decor that’s peppered with traditional details such as painted beamed ceilings, wooden floors and a stunning claw-footed bath in the bathroom, a treat for anyone in need of pampering. Prepare a slap-up breakfast in the kitchen and dine in style around the table, slipping a few morsels to Fido as you plan your day’s adventures. A handy ground-floor utility room will take care of any muddy paws, so you’ll have nothing to worry about when your pedigree chum makes a mad dash for the beautiful lounge. At bedtime, you’ll find the first of the bedrooms downstairs complete with an en-suite shower room, and the first floor is home to the grand family bathroom and two further cosy bedrooms. Outside, the sunny patio area and expanse of garden will serve curious hounds well, allowing you to sit back and relax with a glass of wine.

The iconic 1066 battle took place on the stunning landscapes surrounding the town, which boasts a lively calendar of celebrations and re-enactments throughout the seasons. We found the cottage to be comfortable and a perfect base for our Sussex holiday. There are lots of internal steps and low beams so probably not ideal for anyone with mobility difficulties. Otherwise we would recommend.

Lovely well-equipped cottage with all necessary facilities in an excellent location for visiting the area. Good outside seating space although not secure for smaller dogs. The only minor caveat is the road noise as the cottage is on a busy road. We would return.

An enjoyable long weekend at this beautifully presented and clean cottage, with a dog-friendly fenced garden. Local pubs were accessible by short drives and we enjoyed the Ash Tree Inn (Ashburnham) and Rose & Crown (Burwash) in particular.

Weve had a lovely few days away, thank you. Everything just right. Having the log burner a bonus, and made the lounge very cosy. We brought our own logs from home.

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage with a large garden overlooking beautiful countryside. An ideal base for exploring the wide range of attractions in the area including NT properties, historic castles and coastal towns.
