  • Located in Mundesley, an attractive Victorian village on the north Norfolk coast with a vibrant community of pubs, shops and restaurants

With the beach only 0.5 miles from the doorstep, this pretty cottage is a lovely home-from-home for a family of six and two dogs. Four-legged friends can pick their favourite place for walkies, as the rear garden has a gate onto a lane which will lead you to both the park and the beach. When you return from your adventures, light the wood burner and put your paws up for a relaxing evening.

Dating from about 1812, this property was originally a coastguard’s cottage and the owners have decorated it accordingly, with a nautical theme visible throughout the cottage’s decor. Store shoes and leads in the cloakroom, then prepare dinner in the quirky kitchen, not forgetting a bowl of something tasty for Fido. Sit round the table in the elegant dining room, or if the weather is warm open the door to the garden and dine alfresco in the evening sunshine. There’s plenty of seating for you, and a lawn for your hound to have a good sniff around and a play. End your night all together in the bright and cheerful lounge. Your top dog can curl up beside you and bask in the warmth of the fire, as you watch a film, challenge each other to games, or simply read a great book before heading up to a bath and bed.

Mundesley is home to several cafes (0.5 miles) where canine companions are welcome to sit-in, so take a stroll around the village for your lunch. Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (9 miles) has more than enough woodland for your dog to stretch their legs, with 520 acres to explore. When you fancy a cake and a drink with sea views, visit Cromer (8 miles) and its traditional pier: the bar is dog friendly.

We have just had our third visit to Coastguards and we love it. Easy access to beach and shops in village, quiet, peaceful. Absolutely packed with games and toys for that rainy day. We always have a wonderful time here.

Overall the cottage is great, super location and very well equipped and comfortable. However a few things let it down. The outside patio area had not been cleaned. It was strewn with ice cream stick, kebab skewers, plastic cutlery and bits of children's toys. The rubber shower mat was covered in black mould, we wouldn't use it. The pedal bin in theRead more kitchen was filthy inside and out. Hide
