Head to the picturesque sheltered shingle Blackpool Sands beach (1 mile) for a dip in the sea before stopping for refreshments at the seafront cafe – canine companions are welcome between October and March. From here you can stroll along the coastal path to Strete Gate Beach (3 miles) which allows four-legged friends all year round and is great for canoeing and windsurfing. In the opposite direction is the National Trust Little Dartmouth nature reserve (1 mile), which is filled with wildflower fields and scenic walking routes. Not far from here is the enchanting town of Dartmouth (3 miles) which has a wide selection of seafood restaurants as well as a 14th-century castle.
