Property code: OC-Y014

Ideally situated in the heart of a traditional Yorkshire village, this charming stone-built detached cottage is bursting with original features and a large, enclosed lawn that your pup will go barking mad for. It’s full of old-world charm and elegance, and the conservatory is a special feature where you can unwind at the end of busy days out and about in the North York Moors National Park.

After a day of exploring relax in the rustic living/dining room, featuring gorgeous ceiling beams, a generous dining table, plenty of eclectic comfy seating and a wonderful open fire that’ll keep paws and toes toasty long into the evening. There are even more lovely ceiling beams in the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner, where you can whip up a hearty meal whilst Rover curls up in the warm spots beside the Rayburn oven. Lead the way through to the delightful conservatory to soak up some sunshine. At the end of the day, you have three bedrooms upstairs to call your own, each sharing the same charm and character as the rest of the cottage. The master bedroom even benefits from an impressive private hallway. Unleash your four-legged friend into the generous enclosed garden, featuring an extensive lawn not to be sniffed at, a small pond and a pretty patio area perfect for al fresco dining.

Centred around a market square filled with independent shops, the pretty town of Helmsley, the only market town in the North York Moors National Park, boasts so many beautiful and idyllic walks that you and your canine companion will go mutts for. Grab the lead and a picnic to explore beautiful vibrant borders, glasshouses and apple orchards with your four-legged friend by your side at Helmsley Walled Garden beneath the ruins of Helmsley Castle half a mile away. Treat your pup to a hike through hundreds of miles of treasured landscape of the North York Moors National Park 9 miles away, with sweeping heather moorland, ancient woodland and rolling dales.

This is a lovely warm cosy cottage, it is perfect for walking into the village for a drink, or just a look round. The cottage itself was well equipped with things we needed. It was just perfect for us all

A wonderfully well equipped, comfortable and cosy cottage - with a good amount of coat hooks and pegs (so often overlooked in our experience). Very close to the centre of Helmsley without feeling particularly urban and a great base for exploring North Yorkshire (most things we wanted to see were never more than about 45 minutes drive away!). EnouRead moregh space for us, and our two teenage sons, to feel like we weren't on top of each other and a lovely garden for our 6 year old whippet to chase squirrels and pigeons around. We've had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend Forge Cottage to others. The owner, was very helpful and friendly as well - sending us very comprehensive information about the cottage, and the surrounding area before we arrived. Hide

We found the cottage very cosy, everything was done to a high standard. The garden was beautiful and the location just perfect for walking into Helmsley.
