For days out, the Falls of Clyde (9 miles) are a series of waterfalls at New Lanark, an 18th-century cotton mill village, now a World Heritage site. There’s lots of scenic walking here amid the biodiverse surroundings. Dogs are welcome, under control, at the Falls.
