This luxury stone steading provides the perfect base for a fun break with family or friends. What’s more, up to two VIPs (very important pooches) are welcome, too! With its riverside setting, you can enjoy tranquility and a slower pace of rural life, while still being able to explore the wider Clyde Valley and South Lanarkshire. It’s an idyllic spot for dog walkers, cyclists and hikers keen to embrace the great Scottish outdoors.

Sympathetically refurbished, this former stable makes deluxe holiday accommodation, with neutral decor and pops of bold colour setting off the modern furnishings and sleek finish. Everything has a timeless and classic feel to it. The open-plan living area is wonderful, with a contemporary kitchen and a dining area flowing through to the lounge, with its large windows looking out over the River Clyde and dramatic scenery. The bedrooms offer good flexibility for mixed groups – with one king-size bedroom on the ground floor as well as one upstairs in the roof space, plus a versatile twin. Skylights and sloping ceilings add charm to these two. Outside, you have a furnished and enclosed patio, plus two private parking spaces.

Try your hand at angling – trout fishing specifically – from the grounds of your holiday home, with the River Clyde running past. Heading out and about, Tinto Hill is 5 miles, rewarding the climb with breathtaking vistas. The pretty town of Bigger is 6 miles, offering independent shopping, dining and cultural points of interest like the puppet theatre, gallery and Gasworks Museum. For days out, the Falls of Clyde (9 miles) are a series of waterfalls at New Lanark, an 18th-century cotton mill village, now a World Heritage site. There’s lots of scenic walking here amid the biodiverse surroundings. Dogs are welcome, under control, at the Falls.
