This chocolate box cottage sleeps up to six guests and two canine companions. With a dog-friendly enclosed garden, characterful wooden beamed ceilings and an airy open-plan living space, you’ll be set for a memorable and relaxing getaway. Spend your time exploring the walking trails, charming countryside towns and heritage attractions of the encompassing North Wessex Downs National Landscape.

As you enter this two-storey thatched cottage, you’ll notice how airy and bright it is in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Natural light pours through the floor-to-ceiling windows and glass patio doors into this neutral-toned space with a pop of red and blue throughout. Beneath the wooden-beamed ceilings and hanging lantern lights is a central dining area with a contemporary dining table and eight chairs. On one side is a comfortable lounge space with two blue sofas and an armchair. At the other end of this room is a sleek, blue ‘L’-shaped fitted kitchen unit with marbled white countertops and a breakfast bar on the peninsula. Beyond here are two bedrooms – a twin and a king-size with a TV and an en-suite bathroom. Climb the stairs to reach a double bedroom in the eaves of the property with sloping ceilings and a freestanding bath in the en-suite. Outside is a spacious, enclosed, lawned garden with furniture on the patio. There is private parking for four cars.

While staying in the rural village of Eastbury, you’ll be 1.5 miles from the larger village of Lambourn, where you can spend an evening at one of its dog-friendly pubs. Set tails wagging with a walk around the picturesque Wilton Windmill (14.5 miles) or follow the waterside trail along Dun Mill Lock (8 miles). If you’re a history enthusiast, visit the majestic 1386 Donnington Castle (12 miles) or head into the historic market town of Newbury (13 miles).
