Comfortable, contemporary and peacefully located above the western shore of Ullswater – this two-bedroomed cottage ticks all the boxes for a break with friends or family and a canine plus-one.
9-mile long Ullswater is one of the loveliest of all the lakes, and this beautiful bolthole sits mid-way between its two main villages, offering easy access to stunning walks and scenery. The accommodation is all on one level here – enter the spacious lounge/diner and there’s a real sense of space beneath its vaulted ceiling. A great place to enjoy companionable down-time, the living area is the hub of the house and has a three-seater sofa and armchair in front of a flame-effect gas fire plus a TV/DVD so you can catch up on your favourite films and programmes as the dog snoozes at your feet. At mealtimes, Fido won’t have to move a muscle if he wants to keep an eye out for a treat – the dining suite sits before a window at one end of the room, and has views across the garden. Close by, the modern kitchen has all the must-haves of home, and offers more leafy views. Once Fido is settled for the night, the twin and super-king-size bedrooms at the far end of the property each have an en-suite shower room for ultimate privacy and convenience. Soak up the sunshine and far-reaching views from the enclosed, south-facing patio; Fido will enjoy sniffing out the lawned area beyond.
Walkies will be beautiful whatever the weather – take a short stroll along the road to join rural lanes and footpaths leading up Little Mell Fell or across Swinburns Park to Gowbarrow Fell and Aira Force. Glenridding, 5 miles away, is the starting point for some truly spectacular hikes such as Helvellyn, Place Fell and High Street. At the top end of the water, Pooley Bridge (2 miles) has a unique single-arched bridge plus a great range of places to eat or shop for souvenirs and supplies.
