Retreat to this lakeside haven with your extended family, and your happy hound will be in doggy paradise. Situated close to Manesty, about 5 miles from Keswick, the exquisite abode has gorgeous wooded gardens and glades that go right down to the edge of Derwentwater. Also sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom, single-storey cottage has access to a landing jetty for those who want to set tails wagging with trips out on the water as well as long walks beside it.

Climb several steps, rub Rex down in the porch after long walks and take him straight through to the utility room to wash his furry feet. Pop his doggy towel into the washing machine and tumble dryer, and find a family shower room and WC close by. Make your way into the bright lounge/diner with its high ceiling, to put your paws up in front of a crackling wood burner. When mealtimes beckon, stroll through to the kitchen/diner to feed Rex, cook for everyone else and dine together with the French doors open on fine days. At the end of each exciting day, lay your head in one of the three double bedrooms or the bunk bedroom, with the family bathroom close by. Spill out into the glorious gardens with Rex by your side at every opportunity. Find you have space to dine outside, relax and store cycles. There is parking for four cars here.

Head out on a different walking route with stunning views of Derwentwater almost every day of your stay. Attempt the 10-mile, way-marked circuit of the lake if your pup is up to it. Climb less than 1 mile up to Catbells for panoramic Lakeland vistas. Or plan days out to Whinlatter Forest Park, 6 miles away, to delight your dog and any children in the group.

An unbelievable and unique location in the heart of the Lakes. No need for cars to find amazing and challenging walks from the house - or a ferry to Town. The surrounding wildlife calls to one every day - from cuckoos to bats to woodpeckers and lots more besides!

The most wonderful location and a really comfortable base for walking- lots of walks straight from the door which is great so you dont have to drive everywhere once youve arrived. The house is well equipped - would recommend another sofa and remove the table in the sitting room to accommodate 8 people to sit around the fire; enough seating around tRead morehe kitchen table. Would highly recommend and hope to return again for more time in The Lakes! Hide

Lovers of Borrowdale will immediately recognise the unbeatable location of the Warren (officially recorded on OS mapping [Explorer scale]) and are likely to have admired the cottage when walking past it on the beautiful path on the western side of Derwentwater. It nestles unobtrusively below Catbells, with lovely views up to the ridge from the backRead more garden and the kitchen-diner windows, which also afford sightings of a rich list of birds, while its long front garden winds down to a private section of the shingly shore. In spring, there is 'a host of daffodils beside the lake, beneath the trees', with azaleas following after. Add in the charm of a historic building, most attractively modernised and well-equipped, and it becomes difficult to leave this place at the end of the visit. We must hope that this description will not lead to our loss of booking opportunities in future, for we hope to return again and again. Hide

It's been 10 days since we returned. None of us wanted to. The location was perfect for us, as we were able to paddle the kayak from the bottom of the garden, run and walk around the lake and climb lots of hills from the doorstep. Keswick is not far and has everything, from great places to eat like the Fellpack to supermarkets and art shops. The hoRead moreuse was a perfect. We ate in most evenings and the kitchen is well kitted out with everything you would need. The utility was a highlight. Hide

Lovely positioned cottage with bright interior weve walked past many times over the years, so enjoyed actually staying there. Nice to have family time with no tvboard games etc provided. Drying/boot room great. Loved wood burner with plenty of wood. Clean white bedding, towels etc. kitchen and bathrooms clean too, although vacuuming around skirtingRead mores/under beds could be better. Loved the garden going to private beach where we could canoe from. So many walks from the door to coffee & cakes! Hide

A dream of a cottage, a dream of a holiday. The location and private beach were even better than we could have imagined and the house itself was beautiful. We enjoyed the spaciousness, the high quality of the appliances and utensils and bedlinen, the log fire, the books and the bird table! Thank you so much. A privilege to stay. Keen to return. Xxx
