Ullock Mains is a stunning house, in a beautiful part of Cumbria. We were a mixed group of 9 people, and had more than enough space to spread out and enjoy all of the comfortable spaces. Crockery and cutlery were plentiful, which made cooking for a large group a breeze! There was plenty of hot water for baths and showers, and the beds were super coRead moremfy. The village is charming, (and we were lucky enough to coincide with the scarecrow festival, which was great fun). It offered us a brilliant base for hill-walking in the Loweswater/Buttermere/Ennerdale areas. The pub in the next village (a 20 minute walk away) was excellent - huge portions and a very friendly welcome. We all agreed that we would love to return. Huge thanks to Anne and Gordon for their hospitality, and for allowing us to use this beautiful house. Hide

We had a wonderful family week away in Ullock Mains. It is very well equipped for big meals with two ovens and an aga. The house has been thoughtfully decorated and beds are very comfortable. Our hosts were welcoming and at the end of a text message but otherwise left us alone to enjoy the space. There is lots to do for walkers and strolling Read morearound cockermouth or Keswick. A beautifully decorated ancient house in a great location with easy access to Lake District attractions and to the coast. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming.
