Out in the sticks, this remote Lake District cottage offers the perfect base to escape to on a pet-friendly holiday, complete with endless walks in every direction and incredible scenery to admire when you’re relaxing at home. Traditionally styled with antique-style furnishings and original features, this country cottage is sure to set tails wagging for those seeking peace and good memories with friends. Nine guests and two canine companions are welcome here, making the property best suited to packs of extended family or large friendship groups. Leave no wildlife un-chased or viewpoint unadmired in the surrounding Newlands Valley, exploring ardently with man’s best friend.

The heart of this house is its sociable living/dining room on the ground floor, home to an impressive piano, harpsichord and small church organ, along with a focal open fire. Let your tired pups slump into a snooze in front of the flickering flames, gently dozing off whilst you watch the TV or play a board game. Elsewhere on the ground floor, find the kitchen and a separate WC. Upstairs, four bedrooms are made up of three king-size and one triple room, complete with a family bathroom and a separate shower room. Outside, pets will love the half acre of land that surrounds the place; however, care should be taken as this garden is unenclosed. Private parking for five cars is also available.

Let Fido off the lead when exploring the endless footpaths nearby, discovering Grasmoor (5.5 miles), Grisedale Pike (6.5 miles) and Whiteside (7 miles) in the vicinity. Leave no stick unfetched along the banks of Crummock Water (4 miles) or Derwentwater (3.5 miles), the latter of which sits on the edge of a vibrant local town, Keswick (5.5 miles) – a central hub of outdoor Lake District adventures.

A character property in an idyllic location. It suited our family group very well. We were very lucky with the weather, but there was ample space for everyone inside. Careful catering is essential - the nearest shop is a good 15 minutes drive away. The fridge/freezer are a good size.

As a group of 9 walkers, foodies, and board-game players, we love Aikin and will keep booking it as long as it remains available.

Charming, attractive cottage in the most beautiful location imaginable. Comfortable beds and good bed linen, spacious sitting room ( not quite enough comfortable chairs) and very well equipped kitchen. Lovely wood fire made it very cosy in the evenings. Beautiful wood furniture and lovely interesting pictures. An unusual and lovely place to stay buRead moret you have to not mind the somewhat inadequate bathroom/ shower facilities. Hide

The cottage was quaint and the furnishings interesting but the lack of adequate maintenance of organ and harpsichord made them unusable. The location was good and the wildlife was fascinating. The outdoor furniture was poor particularly the tables. Not all beds were comfortable. Kitchen and equipment were good. Shower was certainly tiny (we managedRead more without it) but the toilets were too, particularly one (we couldnt manage without them!) Hide

This cottage is very spacious but cozy. The view from every window is stunning! There are alot of walks in the area and the towns are not far away for shopping. We enjoyed every minute!

The cottage is beautifully furnished, well equipped, and in an excellent location. It's such a privilege to step out of the front door and straight into the beauty and the fun. It's obviously a much loved property and I hope lots of people get to enjoy it.

Large cottage perfect for our family get together. The large downstairs living space was ideal to spread out and enjoy a place with lots of character. Close to both short and long fell walks with beautiful views and star gazing on clear nights. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of utensils, pots and pans.

Unusual cottage in a stunning setting. Warm, with an open log fire. There is a piano, organ and a harpsicord! 4 large bedrooms upstairs with comfortable beds, one with a sink. Kitchen is well equipped, but I dislike electric hobs and I couldn't get the grill to work- possibly my fault. The drive in from Braithwaite seems longer than the 4 miles, buRead moret it is such a beautiful valley. Hide

Beautiful location, stunning views from the house. The house was very quirky! Plenty of space, although the toilet and shower room were very small indeed. Comfy beds and good quality bedding. Superb appliances, plenty of crockery etc.

Fantastic place to stay! I highly recommend it for large groups or families. The stunning natural surroundings and the presence of sheep add to its charm. The location is also perfect for exploring the Lake District.
