Take a trip to Cumbria with your family and dogs. This maisonette, part of a large stone cottage with two other properties, is a lovely base from which you can explore the delights of the Lake District.

When you enter the building, you’ll follow a shared hallway down to your maisonette. Go through the front door and be welcomed into a beautifully lit lounge/diner, awash with natural light from the patio doors during the day and warmed by the wood burner-effect electric fire in the evenings. There’s also a modern kitchen, equipped with everything you’ll need to make food for your party, and a shower room to complete the ground floor. Continue to the first floor for the bedrooms: a double for you; a twin for younger children, and a single for a teenager. The rooms are simple and unfussy, and you’ll be sure to have a good night’s sleep. There’s another family bathroom. You’ll have access to a private but unenclosed patio with rattan furniture, which overlooks the lawn, so take a drink outside as the children and dogs play.

The cottage is in a quiet part of Cumbria, about 5.5 miles from Keswick. It’s a nice town with a few shops around and some dog-friendly eateries for anyone who fancies a meal out. From Keswick, it’s an easy trip to the 5,000-year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle (7 miles from the property). Finish your holiday with a splash, either by visiting Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve, 5 miles, or Allonby Beach, 16 miles, where salty sea dogs – and their humans – are always welcome.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 shower room with shower and WC, and 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC

  • TV and DVD player in the lounge
  • Patio area with seating and views of Bassenthwaite Lake
  • Private parking for 2 cars (spaces are in front of the property)
  • Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant within a mile

The cottage is a lot darker & smaller than the promo photos show. There is a flat above, we heard every footstep, furniture movement & dog bark, but we were accused of being noisy in the evenings. The driveway is very narrow & you need to work with the people in the next cottage to turn your cars around. The fire alarm testing works very well at 5:Read more45AM on the morning everybody is supposed to be out by 9:30am! If the owners need further feedback, please contact us directly. Hide

Fabulous location. 10 minutes from Keswick centre, 20 from Cat-bells. The cottage has mostly everything you will need to cook & eat during your stay . Furniture is a little worn but comfy. Very warm. I was going to buy a national trust membership so I could save on the parking, but there is so many little parking places to use if you look. Try the Read morefootball club in Keswick, they have an honesty box, then a delightful walk through the park to town . Hide

The property was well set up and roomy. We had all we needed . . and expected. The views were excellent. Access and parking was easy. We enjoyed walking from the house - and there is lots we didn't have time to explore. The maps and books available were very useful. Thank you!!
